A Lovely Week in Maine

The cottage is lovely. The deck is huge and comfortable. There is a shower out side by the teak table on the deck so when you return from the beach, you can rinse the sand and salt off. We would sit out side in the sun and dry off after the shower, when we returned from the beach. We also ate breakfast out there every morning. The deck is lovely. At first we had a little trouble locating the path down to beach. It is between two houses at the very end of the road. We felt as though we should not be walking through there, but we were assured by the neighbors that it was the correct way to the beach. We loved the beach and spent hours there eveyday, we brought our own floats and floated around. Our dogs loved it - splashing around, chasing bubbles and waves. We were always the only ones on the beach. The view from the beach was lovely, and we would also watch the lobster fisherman work their traps. There are pretty shells and some beach glass to collect, and lovely rocks also, if you enjoy that sort of thing, which I do. The cottage itself is roomy, bright, airy and so clean. We immediately felt comfortable and at home, although we did not spend much time indoors. We drove down to Osier's dock and picked up breakfast and dinner to eat on the lovely deck back at the cottage. We went into Damariscotta and rented DVDs/movies at Hannaford's to watch at night - 2 movies - 2 nights $1.49, that is so cheap in comparison to where we live. There is a little road side hut on Rt. 1 in Damariscotta called Larson's Lunch Box and it has the best lobster rolls in Maine, that we ever had and we could get our cell phone service there and I could use my laptop and get our wireless internet service as we sat on a picnic table and enjoyed our dinner. Out by the cottage, if you drive on past Osier's and keep going for about 10 minutes, you will wind up in one of the loveliest places in the world and there is a restaurant there on the bay. We drove all around there, snapping pictures. We hated leaving, the week went so quickly. I can recommend this lovely cottage with total enthusiasm and would love to go back - tomorrow and stay there forever.

We love staying in this lovely cottage

My Husband and me just returned from staying once again, for the third time, in this lovely cottage. This year we were pleased to enjoy basic cable TV and wireless internet access and our cell phones even worked if we sat out on the deck. We love staying in this lovely cottage. It is on a quiet road and there is a short walk, down the hill and through the woods to a private beach that seldom has anyone else on it, on a cove with a lovely view. The South Bristol area seems almost undiscovered by tourists so there is no suffering the bumper to bumper traffic that will be encountered in other areas of Maine, yet there is just as much to offer in the way of activities, entertainment and restaurants - excellent ones I might add and not expensive. Please do not miss Larson's Lunchbox on Rte One, Damariscotta or the Coveside Restaurant in Christmas Cove. We totally relaxed and enjoy our stay and we have been all over Maine and really love this spot in South Bristol. The cottage is bright, clean, cheerful and airy. The deck is large and conducive to much relaxation. We love it there.

My family had such a wonderful time on our vacation- despite the terrible weather! The Sloop Nellie cottage was so cheerful, and clean and welcoming and came fully equipped with everything we could need and maybe did not think to pack (like raincoats!) My kids loved exploring the nearby cove and we loved driving around and seeing the pretty sites. The owners of the cottage did a great job of providing information on nearby attractions and activities. As a tip, the aquarium is a great activity for a rainy day. This was our first trip to Maine and definitely will not be our last.

I rented this cottage for my vacation to Maine. Though there were only 2 people the cabin slept 10 and had plenty of room for family get togethers. It is quiet and secluded and creates an atmosphere of peace and quiet you don't get in the big city. I would recommend this cottage to anyone traveling to the area and hope your vacation was relaxing as mine was.

Relaxing in Maine

We stayed at the cottage the week of Labor Day. First of all, let me just say how impressed we were with the degree of professionalism from the owners when booking the cottage. They sent a very thorough booklet on anything and everything you need to know about the cottage, area and all there is to do. The fine details continue in the cottage; it has everything you ever need. It is like home away from home. Bring your food, sheets and towels and you are good to go! What a wonderfully relaxing vacation ~ everything I remember as a child spending Summer's in South Bristol. Thanks so much and we look forward to next year!

We completely enjoyed our vacation in this lovely cottage. The cottage was prettier than we imagined -- so clean, bright, cheerful, and welcoming. We were so comfortable and cozy all week - it was just a delight. The owners thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and convenient, including lots of great information on where to visit and where to eat. The locale was ideal: quiet and peaceful, yet within driving distance of a variety of attractions to suit all tastes. The beach at the end of the lane was beautiful. Definitely visit Pemaquid Point during your stay, only 20 minutes or so by car. It was very pleasant to correspond with the owners of this cottage and all the paperwork was a breeze. We have such good memories of our vacation and would recommend this home without hesitation to anyone who would like to enjoy the picturesque beauty of the Maine coast in a peaceful setting.
