Eric and myself live in Barnard, VT. as well with our 5 year old Labradoodle Cabo. We have lived here for 10 years and absolutely love the people and community. We loved it so much we decided to buy a lake access cottage in our own hometown. We are both Real Estate agents with Lang McLaughry Real Estate.

Julie Johnston purchased this cottage in 2005

We decided to buy this property to enjoy access to Silver Lake in our own hometown. We utilize the property when it is not rented. We enjoy kayaking, fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking, eating, and celebrating life with good times and friends.

We chose this property because it is very cute and charming. It is nestled in a location with approximately 15 other cottages at the end of a quiet road. The setting is very tranquil and gives us access to all the great outdoor activities that we love.

Three of us rented this summer cottage for the weekend. Everything described is perfectly accurate: the location is rural Vermont with an adorable general store that serves food, ice cream, as well as has any food items you may need. The walk to the lake is very short, and the dock and boats are convenient. The home was clean, comfortable, and the location fantastic. When temperatures in Boston were sweltering, we were relaxing in a hammock with cool mountain breezes!
The sunsets over the lake were breathtaking, as well.

The owner was very communicative and easy to work with, especially since we were very last minute renters!

A few tips for future renters (or the owners):
- Pick up cured firewood. The wood that was there was still a bit green for burning hotly, but no big deal.
- The kitchen is very basic, typical camp kitchen with basic utensils and no spices or other condiments. Bring your own.
- There are notes about the oven in the home, but the oven thermostat doesn't work at all. We burned biscuits within 5 minutes since it ran so hot! But we were forewarned...
- Bring bug spray. A lot of it. The camp and house itself were fine, but once you get into the woods to hike, the bugs are very persistent.

We checked out beautiful Woodstock for dinner, as well as Queechee Gorge. If you are looking for other things to do with kids, they provide pamphlets and maps.

Overall, a great relaxing weekend in a setting that is sure to make wonderful memories.
