Unforgettable vacation in New York

swissroadrunner Zurich, Switzerland
Review Submitted: October 25, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Nice place, located just near the coast of Staten Island , beside bus stop which is very convenient if you have no car. The house was clean and furnished ideally for 4-6 people, we were 8 people which made us feel a bit cramped, but otherwise we have no complaints. Our kids (all teenagers) loved the massive television !! Thanks for an unforgettable vacation in New York. We will return here again for our next vacation to NY, Thanks once again.

New York Holiday

Review Submitted: September 5, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our family (2 adults + 2 teenagers) have recently returned from a weeklong stay in this property. The house is very clean and comfortable and with 2 TVs and a computer there were no arguments over what to watch etc. There are small grocery stores etc and a really nice restaurant close by. The temperature outside during our stay was 90+F but the house was lovely and cool to come back to. We did not have a car and used the bus and free ferry to reach Manhattan every day where there is a choice of metro lines outside the terminal. We felt safe enough for our teenage son (16yrs) to make his own way back to the house alone. Marina was very welcoming and helpful but not intrusive.

Nice interior,quiet area,really welcoming

Dudu-from-France Paris,FRANCE
Review Submitted: April 9, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We came from France and this house is perfect to spend good time at NY.
The boardwalk and beach are in front of the house,base-ball ground and games for children also.
We went to the restaurant near the house(5mn walk),it's really nice.
Marina is really welcoming, always here for us when we needed something and the area is really, really quiet.
We slept 8 in the house and it was not a problem.
we were there in spring and summer there is probably be wonderful.
Take the bus or just 10mn by car to go to the free ferry to Manhattan.
If you are looking for quiet nights and easlily access to Manhattan,i higly recommend Marina's house.
We will be there next year for the same competition and for sure,we will choose this rental.
Go there with closed eyes.

Family group NYC vacation on a budget

A Brit in New York Cambridge, England
Review Submitted: September 8, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We stayed in this property for 1 week in August 08. As a family group comprising 2 adults and 4 teenagers of mixed sex we need spacious accommodation with flexible sleeping arrangements. Such accommodation in Manhattan was well beyond our budget. This property worked very well for us - Very clean and comfortable. The land lady is most helpful but not intrusive. We travelled into Manhattan each day using the Express Bus commuter service morning and evening (stop very close to property - journey time typically 30 to 60 minutes dependant on destination on Manhattan) or local bus and Staten Island ferry at other times (about 1 hour journey). We did not need a car diring our vacation, travelling on public transport the whole time using Metrocards, just USD42 including Express Bus - A real bargain. The property is well situated close to convenience stores and restaurants in a quite residential area. It has the bous of a ocean bench with miles of boardwalk just a five minute stroll away. Al togther, I thoroughly recommend this property.

Staying on Staten Island

Traveller from Canada Toronto, Ontario
Review Submitted: August 21, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
I've been to Manhattan many times but this was my first time to Staten Island. With a family of five, Manhattan has become unaffordable for accommodation, and Marina's apartment was the perfect solution. Fifteen minutes drive away from the ferry, which is free and very pleasant (and where you can park all day for $6), it was a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city at the end of a hard day's sightseeing. The apartment was spacious, clean, and well maintained. Across the street is a pleasant beach and boardwalk. Marina was helpful but unobtrusive. I'd recommend this property highly for families wanting to visit Manhattan but not take out a second mortgage to do so.

Family Holiday

New York holiday Brighton, UK
Review Submitted: August 13, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We are a family of 2 adults + 2 teenage boys from the UK and we much enjoyed two great weeks end July/beg Aug 08 in this lovely, sparkling clean apartment. We used it as a base to explore everything that New York has to offer. It was an easy commute by bus + free ferry to and from Manhattan and the apartment and beach location was a very welcome and comfortable place for rest and relaxation after busy days & nights in the city. All mod-cons supplied plus huge TV and great furniture. The owner couldn't have been more friendly and helpful but also respected our privacy. It was a wonderful place to experience New York from - what a fantastic, clean and friendly city it is with wonderful things to do and sights to see. Sooo impressed with everything!

family vacation

Fam.6 Plainfield
Review Submitted: August 10, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
My family and I saw this property online and decided to try it. This was the first time we had ever rented a home. The apartment was very clean and the host was nice. she was able to give use some tips for traveling into Manhattan. We were able to drive to the ferry which was only 10 min. away and parking was 5$ per day. The ferry is free 24/7. We were very lucky and had parking on the property. Overall I would recommend this property.

Girlfriend weekend Getaway

coolchick Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Review Submitted: June 7, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
4 women just spent 3 nights and 4 days at this rental property. We originally had wanted to find something in Manhattan, and finally opted for this rental property in Staten Island. The place was clean, the host was friendly and helpful. The Staten Island ferry is only a 10 min drive away and the ferry is free (parking is 5$) and it takes you right to ground Zero (right next to Battery Park). It's a very pleasant ferry ride which takes I guess about 20 min. The only inconvenience was that we had trouble finding the house because we arrived at night and the house in not on the main street. The purpose of our trip was to go into NYC and this was perfect after a long day in the city we were able to go back to Staten Island. I would recommend it and my three girlfriends and I can't wait to go back.
