My recent three week stay was my first time visiting Carolina Beach and my stay was absolutely wonderful. The unit was a very clean (would never know it was a dog-friendly unit) and relaxing environment. While it was a perfect place for the writing I was there to do, there were also many delightful “distractions” – the beach just beyond the balcony, the lake which was a block away and great for walking/jogging, the free wi-fi café (also a block away) that had free wine tastings every Thursday, and views of the sun rise over the ocean. The unit is great for 1-2 people anytime and for 3-4 people for short-term stays w/a fully equipped kitchen and washer/dryer in the garage. I greatly appreciated the accuracy of the information provided online and the owners’ prompt responsiveness to my questions prior to, and during, my stay. I would definitely stay again!

stayed here for 3 months (oct-jan) while working in wilmington. nice, clean condo and very pet friendly, had everything i needed. the owners were easily contacted and made sure i was satisified with the rental. the local neighbors were full of character and i was greatful to have been there long enough to get to know them and count myself enriched from the experience! the island has everything within walking or biking distance, i never got in my car on the weekends. carolina beach state park and fort fisher were great for hiking and kayaking. had friends come stay who enjoyed fishing off the pier. i enjoyed having the lake trail across the road for early morning or late night walks with the k9s. the christmas parade was one of the longest and best i've ever attended. i would stay here again in a heartbeat! just a note; 2 people can be comfortable here for an indefinite amount of time, 4 maybe only short term, there is only one bath and 2 have to sleep on the hide-a-bed, no problem when the weather is good and everyone is out and about, but if you catch the rain for a few days, it can be close quarters. it is on the first floor so you have fewer stairs to deal with than higher units-a big plus if you bring your furry companions- there are convienent grassy areas to walk them around the building as well-be sure to poop scoop! bring your binoculars, dolphins frequent the waters in front of the condo.

Electrical problems, no screens, broken blinds

Review Submitted: September 10, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
First the good: the condo was very clean and the agent was professional and responsive. The bad: 1) bedroom blinds fell down and could not be replaced. Had to block street view with pillows. 2) No screen on deck at oceanfront, therefore you couldn't leave deck door open to let sea breeze in. Owner did not replace when we were there as requested. 3) Only one very small dresser in a condo advertised for 4 people. 4) Bedroom ceiling light and fan blew circuits, leaving room with one 25 watt lamp. Owner refused to fix while we were there (clainmed they will have fixed at end of season). At my request, agent provided second lamp and brighter bulbs. 5) Many light bulbs missing/switches not working in kitchen/dining area and entrance hall. 6) When we first arrived at 11:00 p.m., no lights on out front to illuminate lock box and we were greeted by a creepy neighbor with alcohol on his breath who stcuk his head in our car and asked if we were lost. Then he went up the stairs with us and tried to open the lock box to the unit. He said he knew the lock box combination. He showed up the next morning when the agent's employee was there, said "Maintenance man!" and started to enter condo. I told him to leave. He may have been harmless, but at the least he intruded on our privacy and at the worst...? Not good at all. 7) If you're expecting to good view of beach from this condo, forget it. The dunes are higher than the condo. You can see some ocean but not the beach.
Owner's Response: Thank you for the constructive feedback. At the end of a busy season it is important to understand the condition of a property in order to make necessary improvements, as well as other items that need to be addressed. An agent was brought on board last year to have a local contact to address any urgent issues that may arise during a visitor’s stay. Unfortunately, each visitor has a different set of expectations, and unfortunately unexpected things happen while visitors are using a property. It should be mentioned that a full refund was offered at the beginning of the stay, and declined because of the items that we had no control over. The bedroom blinds have been installed for over a year without any mishaps, and the bedroom ceiling light and fan have never tripped a circuit breaker before. It was our understanding that once the breaker was reset there was no other issue during the stay. A new lamp was promptly provided. If the missing\blown bulbs would have been mentioned to the agent, it would have been expected that they would have been provided along with the new lamp. The cleaning checklist will now be modified to check that each bulb is in working order as the unit is cleaned. The light beside the door is not left on during periods of un-occupancy do to the collection of bugs. This is a residential building and there are no house lights to assist visitors that check-in after dark. There were no representations made about the availability of a screen door. Some rentals on the beach have them, others do not. Unfortunately, some visitors will leave the door open with the AC running, which leads to premature failure of the system. The view and dunes change regularly with the weather, part of the beauty of the area and also out of our control. So far they have never risen so high that you cannot see the ocean, but you can hear the waves and smell the salt air. The neighbor was trying to be helpful. We are sorry that his intentions were misinterpreted. To provide a fair assessment of the property it should also be mentioned that in the last three years the following has been replaced: Windows and screens, air conditioning system, refrigerator, water heater, bedroom carpet, washing machine, and tracks on the sliding door. With all of this said, we strive to share our property at a tremendous value for people that would like to visit this beautiful beach.

My husband and I had a nice trip. Loved the balcony. Great views from the balcony and the sofa. Everything we needed was there,,walked down to the boardwalk, and the boys (dogs) loved the lake park,,took them for a walk everyday to the lake park. Overall trip and condo was great.

Our first time visit to NC, and the Carolina Beach was awesome. So quiet, no rush, and complete R&R. The condo was perfect for us, fully stocked kitchen, the bed was sooo comfortable. The only minor disappointment was no DVD player. (there was a VCR, but not hooked up, in case of rainy weather). The decor was nicely done, very beachy and comfortable.
There are many things to do you need to do your homework on the internet before you go and make a list. Many great restaurants. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful Property! Spacious and Clean! Everything you can think of is provided for you and it is nice to put your car in covered parking (garage) to protect your car from the summer rays.

Beach access is very convenient and private. We parked the car and walked to the boardwalk for everything we needed (get groceries, etc. on your way in).

Can't wait to rent this property again!!!
