The Guest House is an adorable three-season honeymoon cottage located on five acres across the street from our year-round home, Old Comfortable. It was completely rebuilt and refurnished in 1993. The screened-in porch overlooks a 14-acre wildlife pond, home to lilies and waterfowl. The Guest House does not have a view of the ocean, but guests are invited to share the view from the crow's nest and wharf in front of Old Comfortable. There is also a public beach within walking distance and a public landing for launching a boat/kayak nearby. Kayaks may be rented in Friendship village just five minutes away. Following a day of being on the salt water, arrangements can be made to wash off your equipment. If your group has more than three people, please inquire about our studio across the street.

This cottage is ideal for someone wanting to get away from it all with a lovely screened porch overlooking a nature pond. Access to deep water from owner's wharf across the street. The gallery kitchen is equipped for any type of cooking you might want to do. The beach is just a few minutes walk.

Paradise on Crystal Pond and Hatchet Cove

5 of 5
Submitted: October 13, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
We LOVED our stay in this wonderful cottage with its view from the terrific back porch down to Crystal Pond, the easy 5 minute walk to a quiet rocky beach & its mere steps away from the always fascinating Hatchet Cove. Just across the small road you can sit at the owner's deck on the cove enjoying the breeze or toasting the moon's sparkling path across the night sea. A beautiful setting among tall trees, ferns and mosses surrounds a well equipped and most welcoming cottage. The kitchen has all you need to steam a local lobster with all the fixings, or simply heat up a fresh fish sandwich from the great little town grocery. The cottage is sparkling clean and decorated with authentic Maine touches. The owners have anticipated your every need and the cottage has maps, guidebooks and pamphlets so you can plan visits to nearby areas like Camden, Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid lighthouse, Mt. Battie and so much more. Nearby are wonderful restaurants, fun shopping, quaint old homes and beautiful drives. A quick Google search will provide long lists of interesting things to do and experience in the area...ferry boat rides to nearby islands; kyaking the bay, lighthouse museums. Friendship is a true lobster/fishing village with many families who can trace their lineage right back to settlement days. For a small town we were amazed at all the local activities available: festivals, music evenings, art & craft events, sail boat races, farm produce sales, etc. Lynn and Bill are helpful and will be sure that you find something that meets your interests if you wish. They are always nearby for assistance but will give you privacy and quiet time if you prefer. The cottage is perfect for stress free, quiet days or as a base to explore this beautiful area. We did use the excellent WiFi service in the cottage, and on lazy days sometimes watched the televisions in the living area and on the wonderful back porch. It would be hard to say what our favorite things were about our stay in this delightful cottage, but I think our daily walk to the beach where we enjoyed the ocean breeze and our time on the back porch where we could enjoy the sparkling water of Crystal Pond were at the top of our list. Be sure to bring your binoculars so you can check out the sail boats, islands and wildlife. Maybe you'll be lucky,, as we were, to see Wood Ducks with groups of small baby ducks scooting alongside in the pond. You will love your time in this very special cottage!

A very lobsterful honeymoon

We chose Friendship because we have friends with a summer house on one of the points and had hoped to visit with them while on our honeymoon. However, they were busy closing on a new home in Rhode Island, which simply meant we got to spend more quality time with each other, our comfortable cottage, and lots and lots of lobster.

The layout of the cottage is cozy and wonderful, with ample space to sit around and read and relax. I believe we were lucky enough to be the first guests to enjoy the new windows on the back porch, where we could get the breeze off the pond during the day and then close up at night and enjoy watching the woods go to sleep.

Lynn and Bill were gracious hosts with an abundance of energy and information. Lynn convinced us to make our own clam chowder and now we don't think we can ever eat it any other way.

family reunion

Submitted: August 6, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
The family enjoyed their reunion since we had your place for the "matriarch" and a grandmother plus two to slip away to this lovely cottage. So many amenities! and the porch for lunches or dinners between swims at the public beach made things so simple. Thank you for the clean, well stocked, welcoming cottage. Thanks for going the extra mile for us. (Also, thanks for the great weather!)

Concert

Submitted: July 9, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
Thanks Lynn and Bill for the hospitality, comfort, and especially the concert. I really had a good time. Love bluegrass, but I guess you might call me a "folky" so next time I'll have to search out bluegrass and folk (Kim & Reggie, Phil Ochs, Tom Rush)

It was a day before decision but it turned out to be a great one. This is a very special place! Bill and Lynn make it even more special with their warm personalities and their careful attention to every detail. We really enjoyed the music and strong sense of community at the Tuesday night session. Thanks for all your hard work.

Dear Lynn & Bill,
Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality. The peace and serenity of this quiet place feeds the soul. The beauty is timeless.
We had so much fun at the Tavern eating and listening to Bill's terrific music group. I felt as though I had been transported back in time to 100 years ago. It was surreal. This way of life is quite a contrast to life in suburbia USA and in America in general. I think the saying "just another day in Paradise" really applies here. We're grateful to you two terrific people for kindnesses, generosity and thoughtfulness. Thanks,
