I never really wrote a review before, but felt that it was necessary this time around.

So, we drove up to this place from Ontario for the Canadian long-weekend.

My initial thoughts of the place was that it was much more cozy compared to the photos. The description of the place was a bit on the generous side. There literally isn't much to do except skip stones into the water and watch the sun set, which was beautiful at times. Nonetheless, we made the best of what we had.

It was initially nice dealing with the owner before booking the place. Gave us a slight discount, etc. However, after all was said and done, she decided to NOT return our security deposit.

She charged us for property cleaning and kept stating to review the agreement even though we cleaned the whole place inside-out, and probably left it in a better shape than received. She said there was dog hair everywhere, when our dog does NOT even shed at all, and that the linens were dirty. This was especially mind-boggling considering we brought our own linens, blankets, pillows, etc. In addition, she stated that we left the espresso machine dirty and placed the coffee machine in the cabinet…? This was odd considering that I made a point NOT to use the espresso machine because I didn’t know how. As for the coffee maker, geez, that thing was disgusting! I had to literally take it apart to clean piece by piece before I could get around using it.

The bbq as described was totally misleading. It is a charcoal bbq. Spoke to the owner about this and she said we had to buy our own charcoal, which is fine. However, had the description of the place been more accurate (which it stated there is a propane bbq), we wouldn't have had this issue.

In my opinion, the situation should/could have been handled differently. Had my security deposit been fully returned, I would have came out at least somewhat content with the place. Instead, I did NOT receive my security deposit, and was left with all these lame excuses that clearly are not backed up by any means, and was left with the feeling of having paid more for what I got.

I can not advise any of you to not rent this place, but can only WARN you of what has happened.

Very nice home on the lake. Beautiful sunsets on the back deck. Beach front was very rocky and the kids wanted to go to a sandy beach. We took the 10 minute drive to the point and the kids loved it there! Clean beaches and not crowded.

We stayed at this property on Memorial Day weekend and had a fantastic time!!!

The house itself is very spacious and comfortable with all the amenities one might need for a relaxing trip. It was immaculately clean and well decorated.

We grilled on the back deck every night and ate dinner as we watched the gorgeous sunset over the lake. The thousands of pictures we took simply could not do this sunset justice.

The surrounding area is beautiful. We really enjoyed shopping at the local farmers market for fresh produce and baked good.

The weather was wonderful: warm and sunny during the day and cool and breezy at night. It was the perfect escape from the heat of NYC.

I would definitely stay at this house again and would recommend it as a great vacation rental to any one of my friends and family members.

I must write this review because I have never had such an incredible experience renting a place like I had at sodus point. The place was immaculate, well stocked and everything as advertised. The sunsets and area are magnificent.
The owners are pleasant and very cooperative to work with. I had the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Will go back again, most definitely!!!!

I have stayed at this lake house with incredible lakefront direct views as a repeat visitor. The panoramic unobstructed expansive view of Great Lake Ontario from the deck and living area is truly awe inspiring. The northwest orientation also provides brilliant and mesmerizing sunsets that are stunning. There are stairs down to a rocky and private beach for swimming and Kayaking. The cottage is very clean,well appointed, equipped and maintained by the owner. The description and photos are accurate and true. Sodus Bay (a 10 minute drive away) also provided charter (salmon and trout) fishing, boat rental, boat dockage, public boat ramp, restuarants and music entertaiment as well as a public beach. I would reccommend this lakefront vacation cottage to anyone who appreciates a million dollar Great Lake View in a quiet peacefull and relaxing setting.

I stayed at this lake house this past memorial week and I am a repeat visitor to this wonderful property. Needless to say the expansive and beautiful lake view from the enormous deck and living area is awe inspiring. The house is both private and quiet providing us with all the amenities including air conditioning, linens, food preparation utensils, dishes and washer dryer. The condition of the lake house is excellent and everything worked for me . The photos accurately reflect the appearance and amenities and the owner was accessible and very helpful in insuring I had a pleasurable vacation. I would recommend this property to anyone who appreciated a magnificent lakeview and relaxing vacation.

lovely view. . . ac was a blessing BUT 2 kitchen cupboards were locked, few cooking utensils, toilets plugged easily (there was a plunger) too much owner stored stuff to leave room for ours. Marina had nothing. . .

Fishing was good ;)

My family and I had one of the most relaxing vacation we had ever been on at this lakehouse. The views from the back deck were absolutely beautiful, not to mention the drives through the local orchards. It was so peaceful that, other than going to town, we did not see any other people all week. The house was in excellent condition and included all the amenities needed for our three person family. The Yacht club was clean and provided endless hours of fun for the family. We had such a great time that we make reservations for the following summer.
