This is where I want to be. We love the pond house. (We've stayed here 5 times!) A very peaceful home surrounded by orchids and palms and only a few steps to the lagoon. The pictures are accurate but it's better in person. Comfortable furnishings and Hawaiian style decor with all you need. Lots of books on the area and Hawaiian music to listen to. Great snorkeling a few steps away. We love eating at the Kalapana Cafe at the end of the road and all the farmers markets and the volcano. Jan is a great hostess and does a wonderful job creating a very special place. Yes, I would recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Everything is great! Clean rooms, snorkeling gears, walking distance to tide pools. The owners are very helpful when you need something likes BBQ charcoals, etc. They also suggested us to visit their local farmer market. We found poke bowl there, love it and you should try it! Jan gave us beautiful orchids as a special wedding gift, we love it and thank you!!!! We recommend this place to everyone who visit the Hilo side!!!

if you want a place to stay that is reminescent of "old hawaii' then this is the place. immediately the cottage said to us "welcome home". the cottage was clean, comfortable and with all the modern amenities, yet felt like the old plantation home that my grandparents lived in kahuku, hawaii. jan was a welcoming hostess who truly radiated the kama aina spirit. my husband, jan and i talked story through the evening sharing stories of working the land. wonderful place for multiple families with children of various ages as the ponds are calm and inviting. trying to convince my sisters and their families to have a mini family reunion here. my family and i will definitely be returning.

It has always been a pleasure to stay at the Pond's house. Actually, we found the place so wonderful that we came there several times all the way from Paris France. Many friends of ours have been staying there as well with great pleasure.

The place makes you feel relax and quiet, the environment is beautiful and poetic. You can hear the calming sound of the sea from the lanai. Having breakfast there, surrounded by palm trees is a pure delight. The house itself is pleasant and confortable. The owners know everything about the Hawaians, their culture and habits. They are the most welcoming persons I know. They are very good advisers about activities you may wish to practice, or any good spots in the island.
The lagoon is a three minutes walk from the property, and there is a marvellous hot pond 7 minutes by car - nice hot water with waves coming from the sea renewing and refreshing the pool . You can get there any time you want, specially at the end of the day, when tired or stressed...Also a sheer delight.
To go shopping or to restaurants, you need to go to the village (Pahoa), which is nice and holds a popular and animated market on Sundays. I just love buying goodies there! Besides the town of Hilo (the administrative capital) is not that far. The impressive park with the volcanoes is very accessible from this property.
My only dislike is about mosquitoes and their bites,they are small and quick, and they love you...
