A Fun Family Experience at a Great Home in a Spectacular Setting

We (five adults and two kids) spent a week at this home and had a great experience. We were awestruck by the expansive ocean view, which is unobstructed and seen through large windows in almost every room in the house. The house was everything it was advertised to be in the listing description and photos. Very comfortable, clean, well maintained, and well equipped, and designed to take advantage of the setting. The location is very private. Nice yard with playground equipment for younger kids. You step from the back yard down to the rocky shore. The owner was very helpful, provided a lot of information, and was eager for us to enjoy our stay.

Our visit was in March, and we enjoyed the lack of crowds in stores and restaurants and the ability to park almost anywhere we wanted in town. A few stores and restaurants had not yet opened for the season. Unable to use the pool at that time of year, we enjoyed a nighly fire in the fireplace instead.

We would enthusiastically recommend the house.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. It is very quiet and peaceful in the Winter but still quite enjoyable. Please come back again, perhaps in the Summer next time!

Perfect vacation home!

We travel to Maine every August, but this was our first time to stay in Kennebunkport. We invited a group of old friends to meet up for a week's vacation. We had such a great experience at this house that we are already planning a return trip next year. The property is the perfect place to relax and the views are spectacular. I think we took advantage of every amenity listed--the pool, the kayak, the paddle board, tennis court, hammock, bikes, etc... The owner was very responsive when we had questions. I would recommend this house to anyone. Our favorite places to shop were H.B. Provisions and The Clam Shack and we splurged one night for our last dinner at The White Barn Inn.

We're glad you and your group had a wonderful escape. It was a pleasure getting to know you, and we look forward to welcoming you all back again next year.

Great Maine Vacation!

I chose this property for a special birthday celebration. I picked this out of many because our whole immediate family unit went. It couldn't have been a better choice. We literally never left the property because everything we needed was right there. We did have a clambake done for us on the property which was a special treat. The pool was awesome and the children were very entertained by this. The views are breathtaking and definately can be seen throughout the entire first floor. It was clean and identical to the pictures provided. Owner was accessible and most helpful. Hope to stay again in future.

Amazing vacation

We've just returned from a week at the house and we were very, very happy with the experience. The view - from the house, the tennis court, and the pool - is breathtaking. Being so close to the beach was terrific, especially for the older kids who could explore the tide pools and the rocks on their own (while on the lookout for the ideal place to make S'Mores). No one had to leave the property if they didn't want to - other than for necessities (the fridge is a good size...though we did argue about who "had" to go Bradbury's for provisions - their muffins are fantastic) - our only ventures out were to Cape Porpoise for (The Ramp is amazing). We can't wait to go back - highly recommend this property.

Nice Location

We recently returned from our vacation at this home and there were some good and some not so good things to mention. First the good. The views from this home are amazing. If you enjoy the rocky Maine coast (which we do) you will be very happy. Also, the owner is very responsive to issues, which brings up the not so good.

The home is pretty well worn at this point and that is not reflected in the pictures. The floors are beat, the furniture is old and worn, the bed in the upstairs master bedroom is so old and worn out that my husband and I actually left a day early just to avoid having to endure one more night on it (and that is after we went out and purchased a mattress topper just to get through the week). The shower in the upstairs master is so small that my husband couldn't move in it without popping the door open (he is a pretty big guy though).

When we arrived there was no hot water on one side of the house. The refrigerator was completely inadequate for the 11 people that we had staying at the house. We had to go out and buy food every day because we couldn't fit it in the refrigerator. The freezer door was broken and would neither open all the way nor close properly. The back door screen was broken out so we couldn't leave that door open due to bugs coming in. The pool filter was clogged with plastic from the solar cover and it caused the pump to stop working. We weren't actually able to use the pool for four of the seven days (the owner maintained that it could be used but it was very very cold (no heater) and with no filter we weren't comfortable having the kids in it). The home had been cleaned but not terribly thoroughly so we did have to do some cleaning ourselves before we could enjoy it. The garage was overflowing with trash presumably from the previous occupants. Although the owner definitely responds quickly and did his best to address the things that could be addressed quickly the place is just getting worn out. The location is not within walking distance to the town so you still have to deal with the hideous parking situation in Kennebunkport but that view makes it worth it. Overall I would say this property is between three and four stars. Three stars for the condition of the property and four stars for the ocean front location and the responsiveness of the owner.
Owner's Response: I'm sorry you feel this way about our house. I really love how comfortable our house is, especially the white-washed old floors. I guess worn floors to one person are cherished memories of little feet running to another. Our house is well set up for family get togethers. We frequently rent to multi-generational families, which means that grandparents can get together with their children and grandchildren with lots to do for all in an environment where they don't have to worry excessively about ruining a "House Beautiful" decor. One consequence of this is that the house does get a lot of use. At the beginning of each Summer we thoroughly clean and replace things needing updating, including rugs, furniture and linens. During the course of the Summer, of course, things will break and we fix or replace them as soon as we hear about them. The back screen door is a perfect example. I specifically picked out the one we have so that I can hear the slap of the door as our kids run in and out of the house on the way to the beach or pool. Little fingers, no matter how often reminded, always seems to find a way to break the screen. Its a simple task to replace the screen, and we typically do it two to three times during the Summer. As soon as we learned about issues that you raised (prior renters had not told of them prior to your rental), we fixed them. For instance, the prior renters had not told us of the problem with the hot water heater (we have two and the one that was broken only serves one of the five bathrooms). Once you informed us of the issue, the plumbers replaced the heating element and it was back and operational. Similarly, we have replaced the solar cover for the pool and fixed the freezer (a rod holding the pull-out drawer had come out of its support which prevented it from opening all the way -- we simply had to push it back in). We also checked the upstairs bed master mattress and shower with our property management firm and subsequent renters and no one else felt the way you did, nor have we had those complaints before. The refrigerator is a full size refrigerator/freezer. Our extended family has had many family get togethers (I'm from a family of seven and have 21 nieces and nephews in addition to our three kids) and have not had an issue. I am glad the you all enjoyed the setting. Our property is very private and does have fantastic views from inside and outside the house. Its such a special place to spend time together with your family.

Our family had a wonderful reunion at this beautiful and private place. With the swimming pool; tennis court;kayak; beach; and gorgeous ocean views,we felt like we had a piece of the coast of Maine all to ourselves. There was something for everyone--73 yr. to 1 yr! The owner was very pleasant and helpful in promptly answering questions. Would love to go back!

Stunning Views from a Beautiful Home

A wonderful home for family reunions or vacations with friends featuring incredible ocean views in a private setting, beautiful and comfortable furnishings, porch overlooking the ocean with picnic table, huge clean heated swimming pool with deck views out to ocean, comfortable beds with pretty quilts and a kitchen with lots of granite counter space. Owner very nice and quick to respond to questions. House very clean. Wonderful nearby restaurants, including Grissinis in Kennebunkport and Pier 77 in Cape Porpoise (make reservations for both). Cape Porpoise Kitchen a great place for prepared gourmet food to go. I hope to someday return to this remarkable vacation spot. Can't imagine a better place to stay in southern Maine.

I just came back after staying here for 4 days for a girls getaway . We all could not stop raving about the place. The wall of windows looking out to the ocean is amazing. The area that the house is located in is just beautiful. The house is fully stocked with things you would need. The owner was great to deal with. He always responded quickly to any question. My friends and I hope to return next year.

The home itself is very comfortable and spread out for hosting our group. The views of the ocean are breathtaking. You can do everything while you are there, or be content just to take advantage of all the property has to offer. The owner is very courteous, prompt, clear and helpful which makes everything go smoothly. We would love to return.

This is the perfect vacation spot. The house and all its amenities are first class. There was something for everyone no matter the age. The pool, tennis court and views of the ocean from every room were fabulous. Can't wait to go back again. The nearby town of Kennebunkport with all its great restaurants and shops was about a five minute car ride from the house.
