Perfect Getaway

Review Submitted: June 15, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
A group of us rent a house every year and this one is a keeper, no need to look anywhere else. Everyone was super satisfied, there is plenty to do for everyone, the lake is a plus....with fishing and boating. The guys liked the pool table, foos ball and air hockey and the women obviously loved the hot tub. Plenty of amenities....dishes, utensils, pots/pans, dish washer was also useful....House was very clean, and well maintained, and above all owners were extremely friendly.....again we would look no further, we without a doubt come back.....thanks for a fantastic time.

Great place to be!

We spent almost a week there with close friends. The house is big and spacious. Everything you see in the pictures, and more. Clean air, beautiful surroundings. It's really secluded enough for you to feel private. For fishermen, yes, there are fish, nice ones in the lake.
The owners are nice and helpful. The wraparound deck is amazing, we had every meal outside. It was really a memorable vacaiton for us, definitely want to go back again!

Our Week On The Lake

Review Submitted: September 16, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
For the most part I would say we were very pleased with our week at the lake. There are way too positives to list, so I will just hit on some of the major ones-

1. the house was plenty big for our group of 13 (8 adults & 5 kids)

2. the view from the deck was as advertised- simply beautiful

3. the lake was secluded, private, & clean (good fishing also)

4. the fire ring was very nice and there is plenty of firewood (although you have to split it yourself)

These positives FAR outweighed any negatives about the house, but there were just a few issues that left us slightly disappointed

1. the house description included a canoe & kayak, which were unavailable. when i spoke to the owner and he explained why the canoe and kayak were no longer available i completely understood his reasoning. i just wish i had known in advance so i could have brought a canoe with me. the peddle boats were fine for the women and children, but men were looking forward to going out fishing on the canoe & kayak

2. the central AC stopped working the 2nd day. although this was an obvious negative, i must say the owner promptly dispatched a technician who had the AC working the next day

3. screen doors were broken. we wanted to enjoy the fresh air, but one screen door to the front of the deck was bent and would not close, and the other missing altogether.

4. the grass area between the house and lake was flooded when we arrived and never dried out during our stay, several large puddles (especially around the fire ring)

5. water pressure in some of the showers was extremely weak (unusable actually)

These few issues aside, the house is amazing! We had such a good time that we are going back again next year.

I would absolutely reconmend this house!

This was the second straight year that eight of us have met here for the weekend and this is the pefect place on all accounts. The house is great and would easily accomodate even bigger groups. The location and lake are very nice, and it is not all that far to stores, restaurants, Oneonta or even a trip to Cooperstown. To top it off, the owner is very friendly and easy to work with. We are already making plans for a 2008 (and beyond) return.

We just recently got married at The Lake House and
it was perfect!!! This house is the perfect setting
for an outdoor country styled wedding. It has
everything that you need to hold a wedding from a
gorgeous lake view, a huge wrap around deck, a
huge kitchen that has three ovens and a lot of
counter space which will make any caterer happy.
Not only was the house the perfect place for our
special day but we also spent the week after our
wedding relaxing with our friends at the house
fishing, relaxing on the deck, sitting in the 6 person
jacuzzi enjoying the lake view and finishing the
evenings with great dinners and a roaring fire!!
This house is about all you can ask for if you are
looking for a relaxing vacation and a laid-back
country wedding. We felt extremely lucky to find
such a beautiful house whose owners were so kind
and helpful in any planning or assistance that we
needed leading up to the wedding. I would like to
tell you about all of the activities that are easily
accessible to the Lake House but we loved the
house so much that no one wanted to leave!!!

We highly recommend renting this house, we will
definitely be back again in the future!!!

A truly fabulous place for a quiet, peaceful vacation. Lots of space, a well-equipped kitchen, spectacular lake view, large deck with plenty of chairs (and a grill to boot), gorgeous trees, hot tub...everything you could want. And a gracious owner that attends to every detail to make your stay enjoyable. Planning on going back again soon.

A group of five of us used the house during March and even with snow on the ground there was plenty to do. We were able to go skiing and then come home to the hot tub! The house was even more spectacular than the pictures let on. My friends were left wanting to know when we were coming back! The rentor is thoroughly professional and a very gracious host, between all of the firewood, the games to play and the abundance of TV stations, we didn't need anything.

7 of my girlfriends and I stayed at the house for a weekend in October. The foliage was beautiful, and the house was amazing. Every detail was considered and taken care of. I also really enjoyed working with the landlord because of his professional, responsible, and cordial business practices. I would absolutely recommend this property.
