Located in a pine grove on Lieutenant's Island, this custom contemporary home (2200 sq ft) is light and airy, nicely furnished, fairly private, and there are two lovely, sandy beaches about a 5-minute walk away. There are decks on both floors and all amenities. By car it is 10-15 minutes to beaches at the ocean and ponds, and to Wellfleet Center. During the highest tides, the road to and from the Island is under water and will require a wait of 1-2 hours.
Lieutenant Island: access to Lieutenant is gained across a small single-lane wooden bridge that rises above the marshland. One can launch a kayak here and explore the myriad marsh canals that are part of the island or explore Wellfleet Bay and Logey Bay. The island offers many dirt roads for walking and exploring. During the summer, the endangered diamondback terrapins are nesting and can be seen rushing about looking for safe upland sites. Be careful when driving as they often cross the roads with abandon. You can also observe an experimental oyster bed that it being developed on the flats off the western beach. It contains many prototype housings for the babies to develop. Full size adult oysters ready to harvest are expected this year. Being an island there is water all around and many beautiful beach sites for sun bathing or swimming.
