I've rented this house many times. Unfortunately, pictures never do it justice. This barn will take your breath away. It's a magical, whimsical and beautiful space. Very few things compare to its simultaneous grandeur and coziness.
The dining room is massive, and it goes right up to roof—higher than 30 feet, maybe. It's the core of the house, and around it live all the other rooms. If you're a cook, the kitchen is superb (though bring your own specialty items): six ranges, two ovens, a dishwasher, a painted tile countertop, and a free standing butcher's block right in the middle. The living room is perched halfway between the first and upper floor, so someone on the couch, say, can have a conversation with folks upstairs or downstairs (this is one of many great architectural details). Also, its fireplace is gigantic, the biggest I've ever seen. But it doesn't feel imposing at all; it steps toward the living room in segments, gracefully.
The bedrooms are relatively small, as they should be in a vacation home. They're definitely not too small, just cozy. The master bedroom is larger, though; and the adjacent bathroom is fantastic, with a cast-iron tub that's sunken into the floor. If you're not curious, you might miss the little sauna, which is delightfully tucked away.
The property is beautiful too. And the house has plenty of lawn furniture to accommodate groups outside all day. I can't say enough good things about this barn. She's an old friend of mine, and I love her dearly.
You'll be lucky to make her acquaintance!
Owner's Response: This is a review of shear poetry. I love having return guests who personalize and fall in love with the barn. There's something in the air that makes certain personalities feel very safe on that particular piece of land. Often the barn brings all the elements together and with it them, the opportunity to form unexpected friendships.
