Awesome place for a weekend, nay, a week!

My wife and I fell in love with this quaint, suburban-like beach town. I had been planning on getting away for a little "baby-moon" with my expectant wife. Fortunately for us, our visit coincided with the "Festival of the Whales" which featured a long list of options to entertain us. We started our Saturday by hitting up breakfast at RJ's Cafe right in the "Harbor." Then we took a nice walk up to the PCH for a small-town "Whale Parade" on Saturday followed by the Farmer's Market just across the street. We picked up some veggies and fruit (nothing like getting fresh food and supporting local farmers for a good price!) for our salad later that weekend.
After our outing, we swung by Ralph's to grab some more food items for our weekend and went back to our own personal "Grotto" for a relaxing afternoon. While my wife napped on the wonderfully comfy couch, I got some sweet-potato fries going in the oven and made some turkey-burger patties from scratch (thank goodness there were spices and the basics [flour, olive oil, baking powder, etc] in the cabinet!). Then, after firing up the Grotto's grill on the balcony (which, of course, overlooks the ocean) I made our late-afternoon lunch. My wife and I then had a nice lazy afternoon watching movies (there's a redbox at Ralph's and some brought) on the tv (which takes both DVD and VHS). I had a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner, and a suggestion for you future vacationers: the induction stove-top heats up much faster than our stove at home. ;)
That night, I slept beautifully (my wife is pregnant, so I think she would've slept better had the baby not been nudging her awake!). The next day, we went for a morning stroll at the beach in front of the condo -- such a nice beach and right at our "foot"-tips! After returning to the Grotto for breakfast, we drove back to the "Harbor" at Dana Point and checked out some art on display before heading out for our Whale Watching tour! We had a nice pleasant ride on quiet seas and saw a massive pod of dolphins that swam right along our boat. Since we didn't see any whales, while disembarking the vessel, the operator gave us a 50% off coupon for friends AND our tickets back since we didn't see any whales -- we can go back again for free, and they don't expire!! (hint hint, you out-of-towners!)
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend spent at the lovely Dana's Grotto. My only suggestion to you future vacationers is to try and spend more than a weekend -- there's so much to do!
