Disappointed

My family and I rented Dana's Grotto for a week this spring. We had driven nearly 14 hours from Colorado. We were told not to arrive to the condo until 4 p.m. in order to give the cleaning crew enough time to finish. Upon arriving on time - we were shocked to find that the condo had not been cleaned. The bed sheets were soiled, food was left in the fridge, and a layer of dust was found on nearly every surface. There was also a foul odor and ants. Soon - we noticed that the pool/spa was under construction without our knowledge prior to arriving. Also - the beach access is under construction with mulit-million dollar homes being built. It is quite a walk around the construction and down to the beach. Needless to say we were disappointed as this was one of the reasons we chose this particular condo.
We tried to contact the owner (Aaron) by leaving several voice mail messages. After 2 hours - we had nowhere clean to sleep and were forced to get a hotel last minute on a Saturday night.
We finally received a return phone call later that evening. He apologized for the miscommunication between he and the cleaning crew and promised to have the condo ready the following morning. He also agreed to pay for our hotel.
Although the owner came through on the cleaning and reimbursement for the hotel, we believe that the condo description should have been updated with an accurate portrayal of the actual amenities that are available to renters.
