If you want to be in the middle of it all, this is the place. You are a very short drive from whitewater, waterfalls, lakes, hikes, Smoky Mountains Train, swimming, boating and more. Halfway up an easy mountain and not far from the Appalachian Trail, you'll find Chalet at Sawyer Creek. There's ample room for parking, so pull right in. Enter the cabin and you'll say, 'Yes!' The cabin has great decor, comfortable furnishings, and a wonderful view from your treehouse deck. The great room has two sets of sliding glass doors going off to the deck, cathedral ceiling, lots of wood, and great ambiance. The kitchen is part of the great room, so if you're cooking, you are still in on the action. Oh, the water! Right out of the tap is blue shale mountain water. Renters bring empty water jugs to take this delicious mountain water home; it is delicious! Have dinner in the dining room or on the elevated, wrap-around deck. All you'll see is Mother Nature at her best. Down the hall is a bedroom with twin beds, and a full bath. You can put the twins together for another couple, or leave them as they are for the kids. Upstairs is a huge bedroom with king size bed and another full bath. The cabin is adorable. Furnishings are comfy and CLEAN!
If you go out on the deck, you'll have a Weber grill, eating area, lounge chairs, picnic table and hammock. Take in the glory of nature. It's so private, that if another car comes up the road, you will run to the end of the deck to see who it could possibly be,
All you need is provided. Just bring your food, clothes, and the family.
All the Things to See and Do: You are between Bryson City and Robbinsville, so a short drive will take you to the Great Smokies Railroad, whitewater rafting, zip lines, tubing at Deep Creek, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Cherokee, Tail of the Dragon, Fontana Dam, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherohala Skyline, fishing on two fabulous lakes and many streams, Appalachian Trail, waterfalls, swimming, hiking, music venues, Cade's Cove, Harrah's Casino, The Biltmore House and Gardens, crafters, Tsali bike trails, and more. The Nantahala National Forest region has it all - without traffic and congestion...just Mother Nature at her best.
Places you might not have heard about: The Cherohala Skyline is like the Blue Ridge Parkway with one major difference...not so many gawking tourists or traffic. This skyline joins North Carolina with Tennessee and has some of the most beautiful, high altitude vistas in the Smokies. At the North Carolina end of the Cherohala, is the Joyce Kilmer National Forest. You can hike the many trails and visit virgin forest lands as old as the country itself. Not far from Joyce Kilmer is Lake Santeetlah, a pristine, clear mountain lake. Rent a pontoon boat and try your hand at fishing. You can tow the kids with the tube and tow rope in the basement. It's an awesome way to spend the day. If you own a motorcycle, try riding the Tail of the Dragon with more mountain curves than you can count. If you like mountain biking, Tsali, which is a few minutes away, has four awesome trails overlooking Lake Fontana. You're in a part of the Smoky Mountains that is often called North Carolina's best kept secret. Visit and you'll agree.
More Things to Do: You can hike right along the Appalachian Trail; it's a few minutes down the road. You can go whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, Ocoee, and more. You can ride a horse along the Fontana Lake region. You can visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can tube at Deep Creek. There are waterfalls to view, and the Blue Ridge Parkway or the Cherohala Skyline are both close by. Enjoy the virgin forest at Joyce Kilmer. See Cades Cove or drive down the Meadow Road to peek in the windows of log cabins from days gone by. The Great Smokies Railroad is right in Bryson City. Hop aboard! Try a little fly fishing in the numerous streams. Rent a pontoon boat and relax on Lake Santeetlah. Drive along mountains roads to find artist galleries galore, visit an auction right out of the fifties, or discover a hidden little out-of-the-way spot all your own for a picnic in paradise. Saturday night? Go for some mountain music at the Stecoah Center. You can type in 'Mountain Cabins' on Facebook for more information. What a great vacation!

We love the deck. We love the view. We love the privacy; we actually love the fact that when someone drives up the road, we run to the end of the deck to see who it could possibly be. We like the fact you can take a hiking stick and just head out the door to a new adventure.
