Pacific Heights House Rental Photos and Description
2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, sleeps 4

In Lower Pacific Heights, across from St Dominic's Church, two blocks from Fillmore Street with its excellent shopping and fine restaurants. Union Square (the heart of downtown San Francisco) is 1.2 miles to the east, easily accessible by bus, taxi, or a brisk half-hour walk.

The house, built in 1875, retains all its original style, while the infrastructure is totally modern. The house includes two home offices (one as part of the front bedroom, the other a separate room). The bedrooms, on the second floor, sleep two couples, and each has its own bathroom. The master bath is especially luxurious. There is also a half-bath downstairs. The first floor includes the large professionally equipped kitchen, the large separate dining room, and a classic Victorian double parlor with a massive sliding double door between the front and rear parlors and a Steinway grand piano.

A house of this level of luxury and comfort is rarely on the rental market.

A very luxurious authentic Victorian house.: There are hundreds of good books, an extensive collection of recorded music, and high-end audio equipment. The furniture and the art collection are of the highest quality and taste. The kitchen is outfitted to professional standards, including a Garland six-burner range and restaurant cookware. Very few properties of this caliber are ever available on the rental market.

A unique location.: The house is in a quiet, refined neighborhood, but is only a mile from Union Square, the heart of San Francisco. The selection of restaurants, shops, and other amenities in the neighborhood is extraordinary. There is a garage, but the house is so well located that you can easily enjoy San Francisco without a car. (Taxis are easy to get, and the house is within a five-minute walk of five major bus lines.) The symphony, the opera, Golden Gate Park (with its splendid De Young art museum and the California Academy of Sciences), the Ferry Building farmers' market, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, downtown shopping, the boutiques of Union Street and Chestnut Street, and a wide variety of entertainment venues are all only a short ride away.

Great for food lovers.: San Francisco's farmers' market at the Ferry Building is probably the best in the United States. Groceries available nearby, at Mollie Stone's and Bryan's markets, are also of remarkable quality. The kitchen is equipped with the best professional equipment. And the range of restaurants within a short distance includes the city's best: SPQR, Gary Danko, A16, La Folie, Fleur de Lys, Campton Place, Zuni Cafe, The Fifth Floor, Quince, and more. The Richmond District and Chinatown offer bargain dining at a very high level in various East Asian cuisines.

You will not find a more elegant or more comfortable house at a better location anywhere in San Francisco.

A superb neighborhood, two blocks from Fillmore Street. A great book and music collection, a Steinway grand piano, beautiful furnishings, a professionally equipped kitchen, peace and quiet. For hikers and bikers, we're a half-hour drive from Mt. Tamalpais and the whole wildlands complex of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. For urbanites, we're just over a mile from Union Square, within walking distance of SFMOMA, Golden Gate Park, Chinatown, and much else of what has made San Francisco legendary as an urban destination.

We have stayed in this house several times over the past few years. It is an elegant Victorian which has been updated with a gourmet kitchen, and is very well maintained. It is located in a very desirable area for shopping, restaurants, and transport to other parts of the city. There is one point which prospective renters should know for their convenience and safety, and that is that the house has a fairly steep, long stairway to the second floor, which would not be suitable for handicapped or seniors who could not negotiate the stairs. Parking in the area is very limited, so unless part of the garage of the property is available, this can be a problem. Overall, we have enjoyed this delightful house, and would recommend it highly.

Owner's Response: We've arranged for the garage to be available (just one car, though).

This home had everything we needed, was very functional, is extremely well located and the owners could not have been more pleasant or efficient. Our expectations were met in every way and the whole process could not have been easier.

My partner & I from Florida, and a friend from LA met in San Francisco and decided to use homeaway.com rather than being cramped into 1 hotel room or renting 2 hotel rooms.

This home is beautifully maintained and nicely furnished. The kitchen was my favorite room - we cooked breakfast every morning and enjoyed the backyard garden.

The location is good with restaurants and shops nearby and we used the local buses to get around the city when we didn't feel like walking. We did rent a car for a couple days during the weekend to get to Napa Valley and easily found parking on the street.

I've already told friends & family that if they're heading to San Franciso, that this home is a great option.
