The property is situated in the desirable village of Melrose in the heart of the Scottish Borders. It is within walking distance of the town, with its boutique shops and Melrose Abbey. In addition, the River Tweed is only a few minutes walk, as are the Eildon Hills and numerous other famous walks. The property boasts 2 large double bedrooms, 1 single bedroom, a family bathroom, sitting room with stunning views of the Eildons and a large kitchen diner. In addition, there is a separate downstairs WC and utility room with ample space for leaving boots, bags and sporting equipment. The property has a private garden to the front and private parking on site, including a garage.
We are a family of five that live nearby in Melrose. We are involved in farming in the area, and love living in Melrose. It is a lovely, vibrant community set in a beautiful area of the country. We love having the advantage of a rural lifestyle whilst having the excellent restaurants, pubs and shops of the village. The high street has everything you need for a night out or a night in: two excellent butchers, a fishmonger, greengrocer, bakery, wine shop, cake shop and specialty delicatessen, to name just a few. I can easily go weeks without needing to go to a supermarket for my provisions. What a treat!
We lived in this beautiful property when we first moved to Melrose, and still live nearby. We certainly miss the views from the sitting room of Eildonside! We love being within walking distance of the lovely independent shops and restaurants of Melrose, not to mention Melrose Abbey, the River Tweed and the Eildon Hills. It is a short walk into the picturesque town of Melrose, with its boutique shops and Melrose Abbey. In addition, the River Tweed is only a few minutes walk away, as are the Eildon Hills and numerous other famous walks.
The area is fantastic for families and outdoor enthusiasts, and Melrose is perfectly located for exploring the stately homes and Abbeys of the Scottish Borders. It is also a very easy drive to Edinburgh and the restaurants, theatres and attractions this beautiful city offers.
As soon as you ascend the staircase leading up to the living area of the flat, it will become apparent why we purchased this property, and why we loved living here. It has a stunning cupola that allows light to flood into the property, and beautiful intricate plasterwork. The dining kitchen is superbly appointed and overlooks the front garden. The sitting room is to the rear of the property, has beautiful cornice work, large working shutters and a perfect uninterrupted view of the Eildons. It's an absolute pleasure to be able to share this with visitors to the area.
