I had to write this review about our stay at the Bowman house in wonderful Easport,Maine. We have been vacationing here for over 40 years, and let me tell you,we finaly hit the jackpot! We had stayed at campground cabins til this summer and let me tell you, The view's are spectacular and the location could not be better. We spent a lot of time cooking and hanging out on the second story deck over looking the bay and Deer Island Point .We had plenty of room for entertaining our friends who come to see us every year.Breakfast at the Blue Iris , great as usual and dinner at the Pickled Herring was outstanding.Do yourself a favor and check this place out . Everything you need is here at this house including a dishwasher., No , not the wife, a real dishwasher ! Just kidding ,Dear. If you are looking for the perfect spot for family , this is it . Capt.Brian-Massachusetts -Don't forget to ride the ferry to deer island and campobello , lot' of fun with a very good chance of seeing whales.

Our family loved the house. The location was perfect, the size was just right and we could bring our dogs. The view and the wild life were wonderful to watch. The owners gardens were awesome too we had many common interests so it was like being at home away from home.We hope to rent again next year.
Any of the below would apply except for with out a car, you would at least need to rent a bicycle.

This Eastport home delivers an unparalleled home base for explorations in the Eastport to Calais area and beyond. It is a naturalist's paradise with views of Deer and Campobello Islands from the living area windows. A telescope is set up there which is an added bonus. There are also two decks - one lower and one upper - which add to the experience of looking directly out onto the water less than 1/2 mile away.

All that is needed is generously supplied by the owners: linens, towels, paper products, soaps, etc. There is also lots of area literature.

The house is very comfortable in a Maine cottage style. Most of the contents date to the 1970's, when the house was built.
A microwave and toaster over have been added recently. It's a very comfortable, relaxed place, but not luxurious, which was perfect for me. The open concept worked really well, and the view from the bank of windows was better than any post card - really spectacular. I loved all of the artwork there as well.

Lots of hot water, a good dishwasher and washer/dryer combo were all great. I found coffee and a grinder, tea and lots of unexpected extras in the kitchen, which was very nice, indeed.
The owners take a great amount of care in making you feel comfortable.

In season you can pick raspberries right in the backyard! It was a real pleasure and was much appreciated.

I would advise those who go to this area to bring a prepaid phone card as there is little to no cell phone reception. You really are away from it all!

Eastport is a fantastic place full of natural wonders like the Old Sow (whirlpool in view of the house) and the Reversing Falls nearby. It is also a vibrant arts community with lots of wonderful galleries and a new museum. Traveling to New Brunswick by car or ferry is a snap.

I loved this house and would return in a heartbeat. It's very evident that a lot of time and love went into constructing it. And it is hard to leave after a week. The light in that part of the Maine coast is out of this world. Thanks to the owners for the perfect accommodations - it was one of my favorite vacations
