Our home away from home!

We have rented the Wamsutta House for three Summers and increased our stay from one to two weeks. We are a family of four with young children, a set of grandparents and an aunt & uncle and we fit very comfortably into this home with room to spare! The home is on lovely plot of land with very large, back and side yards (all fenced-in for privacy and safety.) The cottage located in the backyard becomes our "in-laws suite" and affords our group the perfect amount of privacy throughout our stay. We use every inch of this comfortable and well-maintained home -- from the fully-stocked kitchen, to the Adirondack chairs under the pagoda in back. We take full advantage of the beach and picnic supplies, toys, outdoor shower, bbq and, it goes without, say, the front porch where breakfast is often served and a lemonade stand earns a good couple of bucks per Summer!

The location of the Wamsutta house is ideal -- a block from town and a few blocks from the beach. We walk equally as much as we drive (our family brings two cars over on the ferry and we explore the entire island every Summer.) Tennis and basketball enthusiasts will appreciate the courts directly across the street, as well as parents for the playground there as well!

When renting a house it is important for the home to be comfortable and clean; it is an added bonus to rent from owners who take great care in providing the ideal experience for their guests -- and that is absolutely the case at the Wamsutta House.

We stayed at the Wamsutta house the week of July 30, 2102 and had a great time. We had three 16-17 year olds with us and being so close to town (literally a few minute walk to the edge of the action on Circuit Ave) they were able to head out on their own even late at night to grab an ice cream or donuts at Back Door Donuts, which was open pretty late (maybe 11 PM).

We had a great time grabbing a growler to go from the Offshore Ale Company and walking back to the house to enjoy it on the front porch. The town beach is within walking distance of the house (maybe half a mile or so) as is everything in Oak Bluffs. I’d also suggest buying sandwiches to go from Tony’s and drive over to South Beach for a few hours on the beach (great waves the 2 days we were there).

It’s a short drive to Edgartown which is a great place to have dinner and shop, but good luck finding parking there, it is a battle.

We had some friends over to use the cottage for a few days which was a huge bonus. They owe us big time.

Elizabeth was very easy to deal with. The house is old of course, but it is well kept up and everything is in good shape. I highly recommend their house and would love to stay there again in the future.
