Our wonderful stay @ the Humphrey House

Review Submitted: November 26, 2006 Date of Stay: November 2006
My family and I spent a long weekend at the Humphrey house at the beginning of November. This home exceeded our expectations in every way. I would not call this house a "rental" it was a Home!

There were so many rooms and such beautiful fine points to look at in each room. We spent a great deal of our time in front of a roaring fire in the large comfortable living room. The size of the home was perfect for our family. Our nephew had a wonderful time exploring all the rooms, opening and closing the numerous doors. The rooms were snug and comfy especially the bedrooms and the TV room.

My family and I were delighted with the cleanliness of the home. The kitchen was perfect for cooking all our meals, it had every kind of appliance we needed, and there was even an outdoor gas grill.

The grounds were beautiful with the mountain range in the background, they were perfect for flying a kite and taking long walks.

It was a peaceful, relaxing weekend get-away that was made even more pleasant by the kindness and generosity of the owners.

Old charm and new conveniences

My husband and I stayed at "Humphrey House" for two weeks during the foliage season early in October of this year. The house was all we hoped it would be and the surroundings are spectacular. Renovations to the old farm have been done tastefully and the period furniture adds a great deal of charm. There are several easy chairs and a couch, all with good reading lights, as well as clean and comfortable beds, and a well equipped kitchen. The library is versatile and interesting, so much so that our own books were neglected. After staying in many vacation rentals I add that Humphrey House is the first with good art on the walls. Excellent opportunities for hiking and appealing villages are within short driving distance. We also very much enjoyed taking after dinner strolls on the property: rolling meadows with old apple trees, flanked by dense forest. There are several good restaurants nearby. We made use of organic produce, etc. available in Londonderry, which is within walking distance from the farm. The owners are more than gracious. We hope to return...

Wonderful relaxing vacation

Our stay at the Humphrey's Farm was fantastic! The house was beautiful, big and relaxing and the views from the front yard are amazing! We did not want to leave! We explored the property and the surrounding area. We visited many fun places including Bromley Ski Resort- in the summer they have the Alpine Slide and a great zipline plus many other attractions for the kids. We also went antique shopping and exploring from Quechee Falls all the way down to Brattleboro. We'd love to go back again and again. We can't remember coming home from a vacation feeling so refreshed. The owners were wonderful and answered all our questions with such grace and kindness. This property is 100% all the way around. A+ Thanks again, Michael, Danette, Amanda and Michaela.

What a cozy and historic retreat to get away in! So, I wanted to take a trip to Vermont in the fall and I bundled 3 kids up in car with a portable DVD player and headed north. Our stay was nothing more than picturesque and beautiful - it was a wonderful time of year to visit [October] and the rolling mountains visible from the back yard even more vivid and beautiful than I could have imagined. Lots and lots of space in the house for everyone to breathe and a kitchen window big enough for me to cook dinner and watch the children while they played in the leaves outside. Kathryn was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. One of my children accidentally knocked over a lamp and she was so kind and understanding while I was absolutely sick over it. Anyway - the house just has so much character and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a rural getaway. It's romantic, yet family oriented. It feels like home!

We loved it! The location was great for exploring Southern Vermont. The house was beautiful and loaded with historical charm. And the views were incredible. We especially loved the huge stone fireplace. We would love to return someday!

A beautiful farm

Review Submitted: October 3, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We enjoyed a trip back in time at this beautiful Londonderry farm. Four of us (older kids and parents) spent a relaxing week at this beautiful farmhouse. Much of our time was spent outside by the gardens gazing at the spectacular view, reading and napping. We also had several great hiking days on the Long Trail and a swim at Hapgood Pond. The local IGA had everything we needed for a comfortable week, after a jump start at the Londonderry Farmers' Market on Saturday. A sweet, wonderful house that was clean and very well organized. A rejuvenating, easy vacation for all.

If you are looking for proximity to skiing and scenic, mountaneous Vermont, this is your place. Clean and rustic, it is the perfect place for short term R & R and longer term ski weekends. Modern kitchen and Entertainment equiptment for night DVD watching. Fires at the wonderful hearth are extraordinarily cozy. And... if you play piano, there is a wonderful one and in-tune!

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Humphrey's House. The view was spectacular and the accomodations were much more than we expected. The house was fully equipped with everything you could ask for and it was fun exploring all the rooms and cubbyholes. In addition, the interactions I had with the owners were very satisfying. My nephews (6,6,10 yrs old) were in heaven during their and had a great time. I heartily recommend the house.

Wonderful week at Humphrey House

Review Submitted: August 16, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
My family and I spent a week at this beautiful farmhouse. When we arrived the house was spotless. The rooms were nicely decorated, the kitchen a joy to cook in, and the views were spectacular! I also enjoyed the wonderful gardens. My Dad and I spent many early mornings at the kitchen table admiring the view. The evenings were spent outside enjoying the scenery and just relaxing. There were plenty of activities nearby that we enjoyed during the day. My family includes 4 teenagers and I didn't hear one complaint the entire week!

Kathryn was extremely helpful. She gave us lots of information as to where to swim, best restaurants, and sights to see. There was also a lot of tourist information and guidebooks available at the house.

My family and I would highly recommend a stay at the Humphrey Vermont Farmhouse! We look forward to returning!

Our family stayed for 2 weeks in July and we had the hardest time bringing ourselves to leave! The photos just do not do the home justice! The views are nothing less than perfection. We dined alfresco every day enjoying our mountain views. Our boys loved taking hikes around the property and we had daily whiffle ball games on the side lawn. The home has everything you need for an extended stay. We even had nightly piano performances on the baby grand in the living room. The owners are thoughtful and have thought of everything! We truly relaxed, unplugged, and absolutely hated to leave.

The location is ideal as it is only 1 mile into town and very close to Bromley Mountain (we went twice to the alpine slides!), Manchester, historic Weston and so much more! We went absolutely everywhere! We plan on returning! Thank you so much for a truly memorable stay!
