Photos and Description of the Kailua Kona vacation house rental
House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Nestled oh the slopes of Hualalai, the Keauhou Hideaway is a private retreat on 2.7 acres of lush tropical vegetation. The 800' elevation affords a spectacular view of the Kona coastline and ensures warm, sunny days and cool nights.

Completely renovated in 2005 and 2012, the Hideaway is composed of 4 separate buildings linked to create a delightful courtyard perfect for breakfast smoothies.

The tranquil setting includes mango, avocado, fig, papaya and citrus trees, passion fruit vines, bananas, herbs and more. Java sparrows, doves, finches, cardinals, and canaries wake you with their songs. A great palace to unwind!

(Note: Owners' studio building is not included in the rental premises. This buiding is not occupied when the property is rented.)

About The Owner

We live in Portland, Oregon, most of the year, but love to escape to Kona during the rainy season!

The Owner purchased this house in 2000
Why The Owner chose Kailua Kona

We chose this property because the setting, view and climate are awesome at this elevation, and the neighborhood is laid back and delightful, with many coffee growers, and even a chocolate 'factory'.

What makes this house unique

The Hideaway offers plenty of privacy, while still convenient to all amenities. Some of our guests compare it to staying at your own private spa. In the morning, you can pick a papaya and a lime off our trees, and create a delicious breakfast.

If you are a plant lover, there is a treat in store for you here...all sorts of beautiful trees, bushes and flowers. If you enjoyed the movie, 'Enchanted April', we think you'll like the Hideaway.

As those who came before us, we are not ready to leave our home away from home. The sunsets were amazing, we loved feeding the birds in the morning and watching the geckos. The fresh fruits from the trees and tasting things we've never seen. We also loved all the privacy. The house provides everything needed for a relaxing vacation. The towels are thick and soft, the bed so comfortable. The beach towels and acccessories are an added bonus. So we bid farewell to this very special place.

We had a wonderful, relaxing, enjoyable vacation. The Keauhou Hideaway was equipped with everything we could possibly need. My favorite is the fresh fruit and herb garden. Which we did indulge quite frequently. We are going to miss it here! Thank you for all your hospitality.

As I sit and reflect on our month at the hideaway, the first thing that comes to mind is the wonderful energy this place has from the moment you arrive at the front door - as it opens onto the wonderful courtyard. The gardens are amazing and love your vision. Thanks so much for creating and sharing this piece of paradise with us.

Gracious Retreat, Stunning Views, Exquisite Gardens

Keauhou Hideaway is a unique and incredible property in a lovely upcountry neighborhood. The views of the ocean are sweeping, with sunsets that one simply melts into while sipping wine on the lovely deck. The gardens: oh my! The owners of this property clearly appreciate strong landscape architectural design and love luscious fruits and plants. It is a treat to walk through the gardens early in the morning and continue to find fine natural details. Later in the day, we appreciated being able to cool off in the small pool and hop into the hot tub.

The rooms are simple with a quiet feeling. I found it easy to nap and read a novel from our bedroom. The kitchen is very well appointed, open and a place in which we enjoyed cooking many fine meals (often, we did not want to venture out for dining because of the lure of this home). Living areas, both outside and inside, are inviting and airy. My husband was often out in the atrium to read or visit with our friends. The home is also immaculate.

A short drive away, one can arrive at any number of beaches for swimming with turtles, snorkeling, and kayaking. Charming villages and restaurants are also within easy driving distance.

This was quite simply one of the best places we've experienced in our many travels throughout Hawaii. Try it!
