Where do I begin? What a wonderful place, just as described. We really felt like we were at home, everything was comfortable and we had just what we needed. The view is fantastic. Did I mention the seals?!?!? Yes the seals, they live on the little island directly across from the cottage - they were there everyday and at night sometimes we could hear them softly barking - it was AMAZING!

Meg is such a gracious host - she gives you tons of information - where to shop, where to get the freshest lobster, local sightseeing events.

We look forward to returning to this cozy hide-a-way!

My husband and I love Midcoast Maine and have rented a number of cottages on different islands and tidal rivers...Gull Cottage is our new favorite! We had a short list of needs for our cottage rental this year; it needed to be on the water, pet-friendly and easily accessible and comfortable for my parents. Gull Cottage ticked all of the must-have boxes and so much more.
Here's what we loved:
-the view...just stunning from inside the cottage and out!
-the sound of silence and lobster boats and sweet little birds and seals from Upper Mark island just a few hundred feet away
-this cottage is clean (sigh), private, comfortable and well-appointed. The beds and furniture were much nicer than you'd expect and most of the extra stuff I always bring to camp was already there (heater, fans, puzzles, games, cutting boards, etc)
-we loved the artwork and found it especially cool that most of the paintings were done by Meg's mom
-the beach was close and a short walk for us and the doggies every day
-Meg, the owner, is next door, helpful (if you need help) and friendly
-you can essentially have a master suite. By closing the door, you separate the downstairs bathroom, bedroom and a connecting hallway. This was much appreciated by my parents and, I imagine, anyone who might want a bit more privacy.
-delicious dinners at the nearby Squire Tarbox Inn, long walks at Clough Point preserve with the dogs, kayak rental from Wiscasset Trading Post (they know the cottage and delivered/picked it up), shopping in nearby Wiscasset and Damariscotta, dinner at Solo Bistro in Bath.

One of our best vacations. First time to Maine we were a little concerned about the weather in Sept. but the days were perfect and the evenings just a little chilly; perfect for the wood fireplace provided in the living room. I especially enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings watching the birds and seals on the small island less than 50 yards from the dock. The sunsets were also quite spectacular. My wife enjoyed all the nearby shopping and lighthouses to visit. I could have stayed in the cottage the whole week without leaving. We will definitely return.

We took our son, daughter-in-law, and grandson for a week's stay at this lovely vacation cottage. It was roomy enough for all of us and the views were fantastic. Every morning we could watch the lobstermen pull up their pots and check for lobsters. Morning coffee was out on the deck to enjoy the sunshine. Our son took his son down to the lower deck to fish and we could see the lighthouse down river. Once our grandson was in bed, we could play any of the many games available. Shopping and sightseeing were never far away, as was the landlord if needed. The cottage was very clean and well-supplied, which made it easy with a 3-year old. We would definitely recommend this to friends and would return again.

Best week we have had in years. Even though we had cool temps. and 3 days of rain it was wonderful. The layout of the house is perfect, beds comfortable, and when necessary the space heaters and fire place warmed the home perfectly. Played Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit and a jigsaw puzzle, lots of family time and relaxation. Late big breakfast a the cottage everyday - can't ask for more than that. Watching the lobsterman 20 feet from the deck was great. Even got to see a seal go by. We look forward to returning next year. We had lobster from the local co op $4 a pound, dinner at the Boathouse was amazing - try the spanish cheese plate for an apptizer and the seafood paella. Yum! Yum!

The descritption of the property was accurate, the owners were great, even gave us a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. I would recommend this to anyone.

Our time at this cottage on Wesport Island was just what the doctor ordered! It was quiet, relaxing, private and had views to die for! Right on the water! The accomodations were perfect...beds comfortable, internet fast, cable tv great and a fully equipped home away from home. Meg could not have been nicer! The location is excellent, a short drive to Route 1 and Wiscasset but also not that far from Rockport and Camden. We cannot wait to return!

If you are looking for the perfect spot , this is it. You can belive the photos and any description. We spent a wonderful week here in October. The cottage had all that we wanted ,ie books, movies, a good kitchen,a king size bed and a view to forever. We were lucky to have a full moon too.

I do want to return. The host made us welcome and even said she would cook our lobsters if we didn't know how!

My husband and I spent a week here at the beginning of September with close friends (another couple) and our dog. It was pure heaven. The view is one of the best on the Sheepscot, hands down. Sit on the dock in the morning and watch the lobstermen pull pots. Relax on the deck in the evening and see seals playing along Upper Mark Island across the way. This spot offers the exact kind of atmosphere that keeps us coming back to Maine when we need to get away.

The location is close to Wiscassett, where there's plenty of cute shopping and you cannot beat Red's for what really is the best lobster roll in Maine. A decent supermarket is within about a 15 minute drive if you're like us and realize you need a pint of ice cream at 9pm on a Wednesday night too. Another 15 minutes gets you to Boothbay Harbor or Damariscotta.

The owners couldn't be more gracious. They're next door and give the right amount of welcome and space. They were a pleasure to meet and get to know.

We were lucky to find this spot and won't hesitate to book this place again!
