Southern Comfort

This was my families first time to the Bristol, TN area (two teenagers) and the trip exceeded our expectations. The house itself has plenty of character and multiple levels. Our girls enjoyed the spiral staircase to the loft and had their own space. You are able to see the lake from most rooms and the deck is very spacious and enjoyable. The house is adequately stocked with all pots, pans, spices for cooking and there is a nearby New York Style Pizza place that delivers and has great food.
The house was perfect and my family explored the lake with the provided Sea Eagle Canoe and kayaks (we enjoyed watching the kingfisher birds). The steps to the lake provided our daily exercise and fishing off the dock produced plenty of catfish and lots of memories. The house essentially has its own private cove and we used the provided rafts to float/swim each day. South Holsten Lake is pristine and there are plenty of pontoon rentals nearby (we rented from Painter's Creek) at an affordable price.
During our stay, we toured nearby Bristol Caverns, Bristol Motor Speedway and visited the South Holsten Dam (within 15 minutes). The RT 421 drive (once across the bridge) is by far the craziest road we have ever driven and is worth driving. All are recommended. We also traveled south about 1 ½ hours to Grandfather Mountain and walked their suspended bridge (100 foot drop at an elevation of 1 mile) and then visited the quaint town of Blowing Rock, NC.
The owners were very flexible and available for questions during our stay. We truly enjoyed our vacation and we felt the house was a great value.
