Loved, loved, loved this home! My husband and 2 adult sons came for a week of hiking, kayaking and relaxation. The setting for this home is fabulous. Many times when browsing for vacation rentals the pictures are far nicer than the actual accommodations. This is not the case here. The home is tastefully and painstakingly decorated in a manner that is both beautiful and conducive to relaxation. There was certainly a lot of attention to detail. The layout is open and inviting. I also appreciated the thoughtfulness in providing basic cooking necessities including spices, coffee, oil etc. We cooked several evenings on the outdoor grill( particularly enjoyed purchasing already steamed lobsters) and enjoyed the setting for a relaxed meal overlooking the bay.The trip into Acadia and Bar Harbor only took about 30-40 minutes and after spending a full day in the park (fabulous hiking, biking and kayaking) or in Bar Harbor (far too
crowded and touristy), it was delightful to come back to this retreat.
Although we only watched 1 movie while there, the movie selection was top notch. We also enjoyed the games (trivial pursuit, cranium, scrabble) as a great relaxing thing to do in the evening while enjoying a bottle of locally brewed beer or wine.
We also appreciated the information that was left in a folder for us to browse. Local recommendations are always useful.
My husband and I had not been to Maine in 26 years. At that time we stayed in a bed and breakfast. That was certainly enjoyable, but I have not stayed in any vacation home that rivaled what we found in in this little town outside Bar Harbor. I would highly recommend.
