Our 50th time to visit Lamoine

Lamoine Jacksonville, Florida
Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
I have been going to Lamoine before I was born - yes Mom was pregnant with me - her Dad my Grandfather was born in Lamoine - so with this in mind I have spent at least 50 summers in Lamoine. Shore Acres was always a place to walk by on the way to the beach and the beach is very close - now I have been inside and spent a week with my husband, daughter, son-in-law and Granddaughter and we had a great time! The house is old and is in the process of being restored - the bathrooms one full one on the main level and one full one upstairs are clean - fixtures are old but that is the charm - also washer and dryer were great for our little one and hot water was plentiful - also dishwasher in the kitchen and no that would not be my husband. The beds are very comfortable and nice to have a king size bed available - not usual in most rentals in this area. As mentioned the house is still being renovated - the living room is large but very dark with carpet which would be better taken up as CW and Marica have done in the kitchen to show the old hardwood floors - but days are meant to be spent roaming the area and being out doors not inside! The house's location is great close to all you need but off the beaten path so a place to kick back and relax. CW and Marice are great owners and very accomoddating - there if you need them but not hovering. If you have never been to this area come and visit and bring your layed back state of mind and enjoy!
Owner's Response: The great room or living room has yet to be renovated. The old paint is a dark color. This will be changed. There are two pourchs on the front and the rear of the dwelling which inhibit direct sunlight and the other side faces North.

Living History Vacation

WOW!! We had no idea that the house was still in 'nearly original' condition plus modern day comforts. As my daughter said," Usually when we see places like this you have to look from behind ropes." Beautiful yard and only a 2 minute walk to Lamoine Beach it was perfectly located to get to everywhere we wanted to go. Close enough to Bar Harbor but far enough away from the masses. We were lucky and found several keepsakes during low tide. It was a pleasure to meet C.W and Marcia, even made some friends at the bonfire from New Hampshire over smores! Was a very enjoyable summer vacation. Coming from Georgia, getting away from the 90+ temps was a blessing. We will definately be back, even sooner when they move it closer to Georgia!! Love to C.W and Marcia, it was a pleasure!!

Family Stay at Shore Acres

Napa Family Napa, CA
Review Submitted: August 3, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We very much enjoyed our Shore Acres stay. The lodge was quaint and comfortable. There was plenty of room to entertain when relatives came to visit and several fantastic meals were prepared in the kitchen. We enjoyed our walks on the local beaches and our excursions into Acadia. The boys still talk about "our house" in Maine. Thanks CW.

We had a wonderfull time at "Shore Acres" The house was cozy, comfortable and clean with large back yard. The place is quiet an relaxing. It is located on dead end street that end with the beach, How great is that!? Just as described. Marcia and C.W. are great hosts, making sure that we had what we needed to enjoy our stay. We loved getting together one evening to have a campfire in the back yard and share our stories. We had great time visiting Acadia National Park, sightseeing trip on the boat and feasting on a Maine lobster. We all loved our stay, all 3 generation, our parents, us and our kids. We will consider this great place for future vacation.

P.S. C.W. we want to thank you again for your help with our car problem!

Not as private as we had hoped for by the description on the website or by the pictures on the website. Property is not on the beach and is shared with another cottage rental and the property owner. It sits right on a state route to the beach and is busy at times with traffic.
Accomodations were clean and comfortable.
Owner's Response: The picture as shown on the site is the back yard and very private. Being approximately 1,500 feet from the beach the dead end state road (only one in Maine) can get busy on weekends. The cottage that shares the same yard is 150 feet away from the Inne. Our private home is across DeLaval Lane. We just happen to own on both sides of the road, so to speak. C.W. Hemingway
