FEELS LIKE HOME

Carma & Coerte Huntington WV
Review Submitted: January 8, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
How blessed we are to be able to come to Katie's Choice two times in one year. We were in what felt like our second home. Christmas was a joy to be able to share with our family in this cheery, cozy villa. Everything was PERFECT, from the new bedroom furniture, updated appliances, breakfast on the deck, views of the lagoon, sounds of the ocean from the deck and of course the helpfulness of our hosts, Kitty & Dan. We started 2008 in your villa and spent the last 2 weeks of 2008 in your villa. We love it and hope to return in 2009 with our new grandson! Kitty & Dan, thank you for everything!
Owner's Response: We are always happy to greet returning guests and try to do everything possible to make their stay memorable. It's so nice to have our guests remark that they feel like it's their second home because it is, in fact, our family's second home. Our grandchildren love it and we hope yours will too! Kitty & Dan

Southern Paradise

Review Submitted: March 23, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
We had such a wonderful week on Kiawah Island, and we felt absolutely at home in this beautiful and so nice decorated Lakeside Villa. We really enjoyed the great bike pathes, the wonderful landscape (we even saw a bobcat and some pretty big alligators), and the historic Charleston. So it was very hard to say good-bye to this paradise....!
Kitty was very helpful mailing us a lot of information about Kiawah Island and the whole area.
Thank you so much - we would definitely come back!

Very disappointed, based on reviews

Review Submitted: November 11, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
I could not live with myself if I didn't submit this review. The property was not clean, nor was it well-maintained. There were spider webs and dead bugs all over the entrance walls and ceiling, mold and mildew were present in both showers, there was the presence of both dead and live bugs, dishes and silverware were not clean, the kitchen rugs were soiled and there was an odor upon entry. As for lack of maintenance, neither the front screen door nor the porch screen door locks were operational (and they both also looked rotten), the coffee maker was falling apart, towel rack in master bath was falling off the wall, window treatments in living room were falling off the wall, the floor in master bedroom entry was caving in, the screen on the sliding glass door was off the track, etc, etc. We had rented for a week, but only stayed one night after calling the owner and the cleaning company. Since we were on vacation, it was necessary to rent another villa from an island company, which we enjoyed very much. When we asked for a refund, the owner responded with a partial refund--charging us for the repairs/cleaning that their cleaning company did when we placed a call to them. There is no way that I could ever recommend this property to anyone.
Owner's Response: We're very sorry that this guest was so disappointed in our condo. Since the condo is our family's vacation place rather than simply an investment, we try very hard to keep it updated and in good repair. In over six years of ownership, this is the first unhappy guest that we've had. In fact, the guests that had preceded this guest by one week were visiting for the fourth year in a row!

Lovely, cheerful, well furnished condo

Review Submitted: August 26, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We enjoyed this condo very much. It was perfect for our family of four children. It is spacious, cheerful, very clean and well equipped! The owners are extremely friendly and helpful, they were very willing to answer all of our questions. They also shared lots of helpful hints for making our stay more enjoyable. The location was wonderful, as the beach was just a short walk and the bike trails were very accessible. The condo's lagoon setting was very lovely, as well. It was fun to look out the window and watch jumping fish and the alligators. We would love to stay in this condo again!
Owner's Response: It's always a pleasure to rent to such nice families. We are happy to hear that other families enjoy Kiawah Island and our condo as much as our family does and we try especially hard to make that happen.

Great location and perfect hosts

Kiawah was excellent, the place perfectly located and the owners could not be better hosts. Not only did they get us all the information we needed to make our trip a stay, they called to check in on us on arrival. Then when we had a problem, that they could do nothing about ( the cable went out)- they called me right back and then called the next day to make sure all was restored. I really felt like I borrowed the house from friends instead of renting a villa.

And we got to see alligators everyday during breakfast

This is our second time staying here and we plan to come back again. It is in a great location with the park, beach and town center close by. The wildlife is also really fun to watch on the lagoon. It is very peaceful, comfortable, and well kept.

Great Place

Kiawah Island is a special place and this Villa is the perfect spot from which to enjoy it.

It is minutes walking to the beach, to the Nature Center, to the marketplace and yet, it is on a very quiet cul-de-sac. A short drive to the recently added shopping center just outside the entrance gate means that we don't really have to leave the island for anything (but an occasional short trip to Charleston is always in order).

The view of the lagoon offers a constant nature show....kind of a live 'Animal Planet" production! In a day you will see fish jumping, an alligator or two, osprey, hawks, ducks, cormorants, anhingas, pelicans and, if fortunate as we were, bobcats as well. A short walk might also introduce you to a bald eagle and deer. We found the night roosting place for the Snowy Egrets to be fascinating.

The accommodations are first rate and the sound of the ocean each night from the open windows is most peaceful.

This is a place where you can be as relaxed or as active as you wish and that we expect to visit many more times."

August, 2006 - our 2nd time to this well maintained villa. Recently remodeled flooring and bathrooms, made this villa so bright and cheerful. Kiawah is one of our favorite vacation spots and this home made our vacation just perfect. Will rent again and again. The Devereux Family

We recently returned from our 3rd vaction to Kiawah in 3 years. This was the first time in your villa. We enjoyed our coffee and the delightful view of the lagoon each morning on the deck. The villa was comfortable, clean, the perfect size, and a short walk to the beach. Kiawah, time and time again, is a wonderful place.
Thank you.
