Our Home Away From Home!

Danny's Mom Frenchtown, NJ USA
Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We have been staying with Becky and Richard for several years now. It would not be summer without seeing them, Yoo-Hoo, Shy Girl, the chickens and wonderful neighbors. It is truely like coming home as we drive down the road. They are such wonderful people and now dear freinds! The apartment is a perfect size, and a great location. My two boys get to ride their bikes all around Cottage Point, and love going on hikes with Richard and the dogs up to the field and going lobstering as well. We love the area because there is so much to do. Pemaquid Beach is not far away, there are plenty of fresh water ponds and lakes in the area, Portland or Camden are near by too! This is really our home away from home!! Look forward to seeing next year RIchard and Becky!! Paul, Carolyn, Sean and Danny :)

Peaceful setting, yet convenient location

There is much to like about this property. The views are great and the location is private and peaceful. The rooms are all very large and there is great closet space. The home has a well stocked kitchen and all the linens and towels necessary for a comfortable stay. The unit was in good repair and the furnishings are of good quality. Many thoughtful touches like a local newspaper placed on the coffee table, computer access, bikes, kayak and canoe sitting on the dock, a fire pit, picnic table and outdoor chairs. The property owners were very hospitable and freindly but respected your privacy. We travel often and rent cottages, condos, and homes when we do. We felt it was worth taking the time to provide a review for this property because it was such a wonderful experience. I would have no reservation about renting this property if traveling to this area in the future.

The Way Life Should Be is with Rebecca & Richard!

Buffy's Mom NY Metro Area
Review Submitted: October 2, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
2009 was our second year in Rebecca & Ricard's charming carriage apartment. Once again, we were welcomed with fresh-caught lobster, courtesy of lobsterman Richard, and hosted by YooHoo and Shy Girl, their sweet dogs.

The apartment was just the perfect size with all the amenities we needed. Inspired by the wonderful food and produce of Maine, we cooked and baked lobster, blueberry scones, and more. It was also great to be able to have our dog with us, without whom vacation would not have been the same.

Over two wonderful and relaxing weeks, we explored Mid-coast Maine from this perfect location. It was easy to plan days at Pemaquid Beach and Lighthouse, Rockland, Bath, and Camden. Damariscotta, too, is a great town, with shops, including a great independent bookstore; restaurants; wine-tastings, a top-notch public library that screened classic movies; a robust farmers market; and outdoor activities.

We also had nice days at the homestead, swimming and kayaking in the river off of the dock, enjoying morning coffee on the patio, being mesmerized by beautiful sunsets over the river, and sipping wine in the evening as we stargazed.

On top of all this, it's a bargain!

We are already plotting a 3-week stay in 2010 during which we hope to enjoy fresh eggs from R&R's chicks and a lobstering excursion with Richard.

Dear Rebecca/Richard - We had a great stay here in Damariscotta. Thank you for everything. We liked every single town we visited during the week. It gave us wondeful momories that we are going to remember forever. The weather was just as it should have been, nice and warm with rain to calm us in the evening. It's a shame we didn't get to use the kayaks but I guess a week is nnot enough time to discover the beauties of this region. Thank you again for everything, especially for the wonderful lobsters. Love Susanna, Iveta, Miro

My wife, Anne, and I, along with our daughters Zoe (8) and Penelope (6) just spent a WONDERFUL week in this rental property. Becky and Richard are fabulous hosts -- friendly, knowledgeable, and FLEXIBLE. Our girls even slept in a tent in the space you see in this photo, and our hosts even helped us put it up! Not to mention the donations of farm fresh eggs and even LOBSTER (when folks aren't sabotaging Richard's traps by cutting them loose!!). It was the perfect place for our small family, and the girls are already talking about a return trip. The views and sunsets are fantastic, and their dock is convenient for swimming, kayaking, or canoeing. The girls swam off the dock one night while Dad kayaked out onto the river and spotted the bald eagle that was nesting further downstream....a perfect week for our family. Thank you, Becky and Richard (and dogs!)

Hi Rebecca,

We just wanted to thank you and Richard for making our stay in Maine such a wonderful experience. You both were thoughtful and attentive and we appreciated it. Thanks so much for the lobsters and the chance to go lobstering (what a great experience). There's a good chance you'll hear from us about next year (hopefully for a 2 week stay).

Take Care,

Jeff and Pat Keay

Both my sister and I had a wonderful stay! I love everything you did with the apartment--even though it is a somewhat small footprint it feels spacious and airy and so very inviting! I also really like this area of Maine! The apartment is located in such a way that it would be easy to get most of what you need on a bicycle, and even Pemaquid Point is near enough to bike to. We loved going out in the boat with Richard--it was my first experience seeing how lobster are caught! Having the kayaks available was also really great, although I did not use them enough due to the weather. Most of all, though, you and Richard make it all come together! I so appreciated your help with any question I had and really enjoyed my talks with you, as did my sister. I am always interested in how people compose their lives, and am struck by the life you seem to have made for yourself. It also struck me, as you talked about the folks who have rented from you in the past, that many have become friends over the years, which speaks highly of you! At any rate, I'd love to come back next summer! Take good care of yourself. Thanks for everything! I so enjoyed meeting you! Give my best to Richard as well!
