A Perfect New England Autumn

FLgirl Virginia Beach, VA
Review Submitted: October 15, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
I've always dreamed of experiencing a New England autumn and my fiancé and I chose this cabin to fulfill that dream. We weren't disappointed. The views from the porch were every bit as beautiful as previous renters said. There were also other equally stunning natural sights nearby. Sculptured Rocks and Profile Falls are close, as well as Newfound Lake. The White Mountains, the site of The Old Man of the Mountain, are only an hour away. The locals were very friendly and the chili at the Hebron general store (next to the post office) is truly the best either I or my fiancé ever tasted. The Mill Fudge Factory, located in an old mill, has great homemade ice cream and fudge, and the lunch menu is varied -- and good! They even had an “Open Mike” Night on Friday evening. The cabin has everything you need if you want to stay close to home. It’s quiet and a perfect place to recharge. Gazing into the log fire every evening is something I miss already. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family.

Private with perfect view

This cabin is comfortable, well equipt, and in a perfect location! In very good condition but not so fancy that you are afraid to make yourself at home. Rural, quiet, and private (the second to last house on a deadend road in the mountains) but also close to many outdoor activities. Set-up so multiple families could share the cabin with some privacy due to the 3 levels and a common area on each level. Large Blackeyed Susan garden and place to relax in the back yard, shady mature trees and lots of chipmonk and humming bird activity to keep the dogs interested. We loved sitting on the covered balcony in the comfortable chairs and looking out over the mountains and lakes while listening to music from the outdoor speakers - you wont want to move from that spot! Really! It is soothing and perfect for those that want to just slow down. I can only imagine what the view is like with fall foliage!
The owner was very accomodating and easy to work with. I would highly recommend the cabin and hope to return.

Perfect Escape!

We all loved it. The pictures do not show how much room there is inside, and how comfortable and well kept it is. We were amazed. The view from the porch is definatley the favorite spot in the house, even for the dogs. There was so much to do in the area we are already planning when to go back. We met our friends at weirs beach/fun spot for the afternoon then came back for a cookout and games in the dinning room. We went to the polar caves right down the street and my daughters friends came up for the day but ended up staying the night. There was so much room we still had privacy in the main living room to watch a movie by the fire while they all played games and had a fire outside. We got to visit quincy bog before heading home. Thank you to the owners for mentioning it. It really is a wonderful place to get away from it all in a very private relaxing setting that seems almost isolated, but is so close to so much.

What a setting for a relaxed weekend with friends. We were in town for a wedding and the cabin was the perfect staging area for us. During down times we enjoyed the proximity to hikes, as well as the wonderful views from the porch. The cabin is quite secluded while at the same time being close enough to anything you might need. I would recommend spending time here to anyone interested in the outdoors and peace and quiet.
We'll be back!

7/14/07- 7/21/07 Just got back from this wonderful place. The view is amazing. My dogs loved it especially my 3 year old Greater Swiss Mountain dog who loved romping around outside and in the woods. We will definetly be back.

What a great place to stay! We were in town for a race on Newfound Lake and thoroughly enjoyed the solitude of the cabin's location as well as all of the amenities it offered. Our dog especially loved the area and found many chipmunks to chase until she collapsed inside by the fireplace. We would gladly rent the property again!

Where do we start? It was the best weekend and the most romantic getaway ever!! Photos don't even begin to describe the breath taking views, day or night, from the back porch. The fireplace was phenomenal and left us with memories of a lifetime. Thank you so much for inviting us into your home. We can not wait to return!!

We all came up as a team with crazy nerves, especially from the drive and thoughts of racing the Mooseman Half- ironman, BUT this home relaxed all and became a haven each night. A beautiful place. Can't wait until next year.

The view was so beautiful we just sat on the deck for an hour every morning watching the mist rise and the lake emerge from the surrounding hills amid the perfect, car-less quiet. The cabin was the essence of coziness and the location was superb. Truly a wonderful place to get away from it all -- and also great for a 2-year-old!

Simply put, a fantastic vacation had
by all including our 10 yr old daughter
and 2 yr old Bernese Mt. dog!
Relaxing, incredibly peaceful and
serene with beautiful views and
humming birds. Plenty to do (or not
to do if you want to just drop out for a
little while)!!
