A short 2 min walk will get you right in the heart of the pristine countryside which stretches up to one of the most beautiful spots on the island: Blue Grotto nestled in the sought after fishing village of Wied iz-Zurrieq. Just after 5 minutes on foot you will get the first glimpse of the blue sea with the panoramic view of the small island of Filfla (protected nature reserve). A 2 minute drive will take you to the UNESCO world heritage temples of Hagar Qim.

The village of Qrendi has a population of 2,627. The cottage is a few metres away from the 'Maqluba', an enormous depression, which fell from the cliff during a storm in 1343. According to legend nuns living in a nearby monastery had warned 'bad' people in the area, that God will soon punish those who do not change their lifestyle ...
There are seven chapels in the village some of which date back to the 15th century.
Don't miss the Megalithic temples of Imnajdra and Hagar Qim described by the World Heritage Sites committee as 'unique architectural masterpieces.' In 1992 UNESCO recognized Hagar Qim and four other Maltese megalithic structures as World Heritage Sites.
Enjoy a walk close to the cliffs surrounding the temples and take snapshots of Filfla Island and the historical Hamrija tower, a fortification that the the Knights of Malta built on the island of Malta. This watchtower is one of 13 such towers that Grand Master Martin de Redin built. Constructed in 1569 it was the 12th tower in the series of de Redin towers and the last on Malta´s South Western Coast. Adjacent to this tower is the Sir William Congreve Memorial. This former Governor was so much in love with the village of Qrendi that he chose to be buried in the sea between the temples of Imnajdra and Filfla.
A few winding streets away from the cottage, right in the heart of the village, you will find Tal-Kaptan Tower. Privately owned, this tower was built in the late Medieval period. It is unique in Malta and renowned for its octagonal plan. Close to this tower, one can enjoy a private insect exhibition.
A 5 minute drive takes you to the nearby village of Siggiewi offering various attractions: Ghar Lapsi beach and the Limestone Heritage Park & Gardens – a celebration of Malta’s vibrant history and its unique stone resource.

In Qrendi, there are two annual village fiestas. The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes is celebrated on the 23rd June, while the festa of Santa Maria is celebrated on the 15th August. Both feasts are coupled with brass band marches, fireworks, and beautifully decorated streets.
