It isn’t hard to imagine why Ava Gardener would have chosen to spend the last few decades of her celebrated life just one block away from this peaceful mews at 34 Ennismore Gardens. Hidden away from the bustle of Knightsbridge, this incredibly quiet hamlet is a haven of peace, and an enchanting getaway in central London. Think cobbled streets, multi-coloured houses lined with potted plants and a sprinkling of street lamps. Wrought iron balconies branch out at leisure to complete this idyllic image. Now step inside this enchanting Mews house and enjoy the characterful and unique interior- evidence of the care and attention that went into making this a home is all around. Expect warm colours, oak wooden furniture and modern comforts. The living room invites you to stay a while, with its charming gas log fire surrounded by exposed brick and large high-definition television, large sofa to flop on and a rug that will delight bare-feet. The kitchen is compact but fully equipped, with everything you might need to knock up a feast.

Bedrooms

Enjoy the smell of fresh linen as you enter the bedroom, complete with king-sized bed, fitted wardrobes, a flat screen television and delightful wooden shutters. For those that prefer the bed can be made up as two singles.

Bathrooms

The beautifully tiled bathroom is bright and thoughtfully designed. With a bath and a built-in shower, heated towel rail, basin, toilet and mirror.

There is of course fully functioning Internet, but for those who prefer a movie by the fire in the evening there is also a dvd player.

Local Area

So relax and stay a while, but remember when you are ready to explore London you are faultlessly located. The magnificent Hyde Park is just a hop, skip and a jump away, perfect for a morning stroll (or run for the more energetic) Take a picnic under one of Hyde Park’s magnificent Oak trees. Watch the roller-bladers slalom through some cones, or rent a rowing boat and test your speed on the magnificent Serpentine. If you’re feeling slightly more adventurous why not take a ride on the UK’s first Solar- Shuttle-powered only by the Sun! (We’re not sure how fast that will go in England but there is only one way to find out…)

With such a collection of Museums within arm’s reach you are bound to go home smarter than you came! While away the hours learning about the times when dinosaurs ruled the Earth in the Natural history Museum. Or check out the latest on Art and Design as you wander through the Victoria and Albert.

Foodies are in for a treat as artisan bakeries, delicatessens and all manner of food is well within strolling distance. Try Shezan for fancy cocktails and live Jazz music, or head to Chabrot for a traditional French brassiere. Whatever your mood you’ll find it on your doorstep.

A small market located one block away on Exhibition Road is open 7 days a week and is a great place to get freshly baked croissants for the morning. The world-famous Harrods is a handful of minutes away, with its superb food hall and unique supermarket. If you fancy a more normal and functional food store then Marks and Spencer’s, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s are all similarly close.

A most beautiful flat in a quiet, pictureque mews

My wife and I spent 2 wonderful weeks at Ennismore Garden Mews. It was our second visit. The living room is very spacious and with lovely proportions. The bedroom is very comfortable and the bathroom and shower are great. The kitchen is compact, but fully functional. The actual Mews is a lovely cobbled road with very quiet with little traffic . The location is superb with 3 tube stops within easy walks as are 3 world class museums, Hyde Park and of course Harrods.
Ivy Lettings do a great job of making sure that the administration is smooth and everything is organized just right for your arrival. They are also readily available if questions crop up.

We were very pleased with everything about this apartment. The space, the amenities, and the location were exactly as advertised. Ivy Lettings, the leasing agency, made the whole renting process very easy and late one night, when we were locked out and couldn't contact the apartment owner, they had an employee on call who stayed with us on the phone for 45 minutes until we got the problem solved. It is on a very quiet mews away from the hustle and bustle of London, but very close to everything you could possibly want. The area the apartment is in is a wonderful international area, very close to buses, two tube stations, great restaurants, The Victoria and albert Museum, Kensington Palace, Hyde Park and the Royal albert Hall. We would definitely recommend this apartment and would love to stay there again.

Quaint and perfectly located

From Enquiry to Checkout this company is 5 stars and top notch. The property that I stayed at in London was the Ennismore Gardens Mews. This was, however, not my first choice. I had originally chosen Nevern Square but the owner never responded to the enquiry from the company so as my travel time was getting closer I told the the associate I was working with my requirements and she helped me find what I wanted. The location was even better than my first choice. The living room is spacious as is the bedroom. The bathroom is beautifully appointed and was the largest bathroom I have ever had while staying in the UK. The owner who lives downstairs leaves discreet notes under your door if he needs to let you know about something. For example, when I was there the internet was down and left a note letting me know hy and when it would be fixed. All of my emails were answered within 12 hours. When I booked they also arranged a car to pick me up at the train station and take me directly to the property. I had some trouble getting there at the agreed upon time because my train broke down outside of Peterborough and took over 4 hours to fix. Oddly enough we broke down in a cellular dead zone but my wifi still worked so I emailed them to let them know of my situation. I got a response within 5 min from alyce letting me know it was no problem and would contact the car company on my behalf to change the time as I had no ability to call them. She kept me up to date by email and gave me a direct email for the cab if I should be further delayed. When I finally did make it to London and to my flat she emailed me, outside of her regular business hours I might add, to check in on me and see if I made it okay and that I had everything I needed. The speed an efficient that she dealt with my situation turned my potentially stressful situation into a non isse and put me completely at ease. I would recommend this company to anyone wanting to stay in London. Not only are the properties lovely and that really have a wide variety to suit any taste, the staff is absolutely top notch. “Fantastic, quiet and excellent location”

This apartment in Ennismore Gardens Mews is a little gem. It is compact but has everything you need. The living area is a good size and eclectically furnished. The kitchen is small but well fitted. The fridge would benefit from having a freezer but this is not a "show stopper". The bedroom is a good size and the bed can be a king size or 2 singles. One quibble is that a change of linen and towels is not provided which is ok for a week but not when one is staying 3 weeks. It means that towels have to be washed and dried in the same day. The location of the apartment is superb - it is literally 4-5 minutes walk from Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens and the same to Kensington Station and Brompton Road. Being in a mews, it is extremely quiet. The owner, when not travelling, lives downstairs and is charming and helpful but discreet. We would not hesitate to stay again when we next visit London.

Just like Ava

Ava Gardener lived a block away at Ennismore Garden--there is an urn dedicated to her in the fenced garden--and I can see why she chose this location to spend her last days. Walking out into the mews every morning of the three weeks we stayed at this lovely apartment was such a joy! Other reviewers have mentioned the location—central yet incredibly quiet--one of the best features of the apartment. There is a walkway between Brompton Road and the mews, by the side of the church that provides a “shortcut” to the busy thoroughfare, a bit lonely at night. However, it is safe, a delivery boy left a fancy bag for neighbors that were not home and it sat on their doorstep for three days. Nobody touched it.
Everything needed for a temporary stay is available. The positive about this apartment is that it is decorated for an owner with excellent taste to live in. This is also the negative. Read on. Owner lives downstairs and it’s a strange situation as glass louver doors lead up to apt. If owner comes in and you are at the top of the stairs, there is zero privacy. A gauzy curtain behind the glass would alleviate the problem. A secure bolt closes the door from inside. From outside you have to lock with a lock and chain.
Living/ dining area: A large space table for two (perhaps three) for dining and a large 40inch flat screen TV, CD player,(no IPod dock), books on art, travel, decoration and assorted. Attractive and thoughtful details everywhere. However, white tablecloth, white rug, and white sofa? This lovely, if unpractical, décor had me on edge worried about spills (and constantly covering the table with protective paper towels).
Kitchen/Food: small but oh, so cute. Again charmingly decorated. No freezer thus no ice cubes. A two-burner electric stove, and a microwave/convection oven. Everything else you could want, knives, cutlery, plates, wine glasses, Nespresso coffee machine--pods for sale at the Brompton Road Nespresso store. Many carry-out places starting with Harrods’ superb Food Halls to supermarkets, all a five minute walk. There’s a series of restaurants down Exhibition Road past Brompton Road around the Kensington High Tube Station--a Pain Quotidian, Indian, Thai, Italian, Kulu-Kulu (fun sushi with conveyor belt), Lebanese, tapas, patisseries, wine and cheese shops. A short bus ride (or a nice walk) to Kensington High has a Whole Foods Supermarket and the best takeout in London: Ottolenghi (another in Mayfair). We would return.

Nice Apartment in Ideal London Location!

Just returned from a 6-night stay at Ennismore Gardens Mews apartment. Our experience with Ivy Lettings was top-rate from start to finish. Kate & Georgina were service-oriented with an eye towards making our stay perfect! We will use Ivy Lettings for future rentals and will recommend them to family & friends.

The Ennismore Gardens Mews apartment is as pictured. Living room/sitting area is nicely furnished with a high-definition TV and high-speed WiFi worked well. The bedroom has a newer bed with fresh and comfy linens, a double window (no a/c), large closet and a TV. The bed was a bit softer than we like, but most will find it very comfortable. The large, modern bathroom is well outfitted with hot water always available, water pressure was perfect. The kitchen is very compact but well-equipped. All appliances worked well, ample glassware & dishes. A freezer and proper stove with an oven would make it ideal, but we had no problems making breakfasts or reheating leftovers.

The flat is up a straight 16 or so stairs, separated from the owner's flat downstairs by a simple pair of French doors with a brass latch (not a lock); this was not a problem as you enter through a shared vestibule and the owner was so unobtrusive we never saw or heard him; we only hope we didn't disturb him with our evening comings & goings.

Finally, the best part of this flat was its proximity to ALL that London offers. It's a 10-minute walk to South Kensington tube station on the Piccadilly Line from there you can get to central London tourist attractions in 15 minutes or less. Also nearby are Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner and Gloucester stations. We bought an Oyster Card our first day and traveled with ease both day and night on London's tube. We wish the DC Metro was half as efficient!

The area around the apartment is lovely, walkable, and near the Brompton Road quarter with a large selection of restaurants and shops. The Sainsbury Local is just down Brompton for quick grocery pick-ups and several 24/7 shops offer sodas, newspapers, stamps and the like.

The Victoria & Albert Museum, Natural History, and Royal Albert Hall are literally around the corner from the flat. So convenient to see these fantastic, FREE museums. I spent several days just touring around the flat with no need for public transport. The neighborhood seemed very quiet and safe for walking with great lighting and beautiful, multi-million dollar homes on Ennismore & Princes Garden street.

very homely and very central

We felt at home the minute we arrived with great booking in service from the staff, lots of information provided, great apartment with good quality fittings and appliances. We were so central to parks, Harrods, transport and museums. We met the owner who was very friendly even leaving notes to say welcome home after a day trip away. We would defintely use this apartment again and would absolutely recommend it to anyone going to London. Thank you for making our first trip to London memorable and affordable.
