Enjoyed a fantastic week at this luxury Quinta. Really felt like the lord & lady of the manor - such a grand house with lots of character and full of antiques (it even had its own wine cellar!). Set in beautiful gardens with a lovely pool. Very tranquil. Plenty of space within this delightful house although only 2 of the 5 bedrooms had wardrobes! Lots of suprise extras like the electrical piano; guitar and inflatable for the pool - all of which kept my kids happy. Breakfast items provided on daily basis which was good. Couple of small shops in village for basic provisions. Very reasonably priced restaurant with great coastal view in village. For a restaurant with a difference try the thatched restaurant in Sao Jorge, behind the church (and be sure to try their speciality - the shrimp soup in a loaf of bread!). Couple of drawbacks. The electrical equipment was antique too - especially the washing machine which was not fit for purpose. Freezer had cracked drawers and was badly in need of defrosting. The private pool was not private - other guests helped themselves. There was a lack of privacy and security. Other guests could stroll through the grounds of the house at will - very disconcerting especially as the other guests were not friendly. I didn't feel comfortable allowing my youngest child to be outside on her own which was a shame. Aside from all that, I would recommend this Quinta to others as it was amazing staying there & we just loved it.
