We had a wonderful week at the Carriage House. The location is perfect. The house is very comfortable, especially the main room, and the large, well-furnished deck is terrific--we ate many meals on the deck and spent a lot of time reading there as well. The wireless internet was a nice plus! Dave clearly cares very much his renters enjoy their stay.

This was more than was written and depicted in pictures. I have stayed in quite a few homes throug HomeAway and this by far was the best. The layout is fabulous, it allowed an area for watching movies and another for conversation, reading or playing games. The kitchen had all we needed and when you sat at the table all you could see were trees around us... The bedrooms were comfortable. Usually it is hard to sleep the first night but not in this house, my room was the pink room and I was extremely comfortable.
The owners were an extra bonus, they awaited our arrival and personally gave us a tour. They had gate for the wrap around deck so our black lab could sit out there and enjoy the outdoors. Two favorite restaurants were BabaLouies (hope it is spelled correctly) and Rte 7 Grill. I would highly recommend this property, just not on the dates I would like to come back!!

My husband and I spent a delightful 2 weeks last August. We particularly enjoyed the living/dining room with its high ceiling, the screened porch and deck in this spacious, comfortable house. Bedrooms were comfortable and attractive too, and kitchen well equipped. There were many thoughtful touches that enhanced our comfort. It worked well with our 2 small grandchildren and their parents. Dave was extremely hospitable and helpful!

We have stayed in this charming house on two occasions- summer '07 and'08. It is very attractive, close to all Berkshire activities and large enough to accomodate family and friends. Very homey and comfortable.

I stayed with my yoga teacher for three days while we went to a workshop in Great Barrington. The house is wonderfully charming, with great living spaces and beautifully situated in the woods. It is an easy drive into Great Barrington and convenient to other activities in the Berkshires. Dave is a wonderful host/owner and couldn't have been nicer. Did I mention that he waited for us to arrive (it was after dark), gave us helpful instructions and even a glass of wine. I will definitely stay here again when I am in the area.

My family spent a wonderful, relaxing two weeks here in August. The house is perfectly located --- close to many activities, restaurants, and shops, but far enough away to feel like you are out in the country. The views are beautiful and the stars at night are spectacular! The house has a lovely and peaceful ambiance and is so comfortable. We loved the huge great room and decks and porches. I hope to visit again next summer. This was a perfect vacation.

We stayed there with our 9 and 7 year old. I grew up in Great Barrington and my wife and I have vacationed here for many years but it was our first stay at this home. We found it very comfortable and the location especially which is close to downtown, to our favorite hiking trials and to French Park in North Egermont is very convenient. The bathrooms have rather old fixtures but were functional. Teh lighting in the kitchen is not great and all the extension cords worried me. The grounds are lovely and then location very peaceful. It has a very rustic feel while being close to all the Berkshire things. I would recommend it for a relaxing visit.

My wife and I enjoyed an extraordinary summer at this rental home. It really became our home, hosting weeks with our grandchildren, throwing a great dinner for extended family, and sipping wine by ourselves on the great deck. Great Barrington is a terrific town, and we could not have been better situated, off by ourselves on a secluded hill, yet 1.5 miles from the center. A mile in the other direction is the best cheese and olive oil shop we've ever encountered. Everything we needed (the wine we bring from home)!

What a wodnerful location and retreat, if you're looking to get away...relax read, hang out, enjoy family...

The carriage house is cozy and secluded, yet close to restaraunts and downtown Great Barrington.

We also got our 4-1/2 year old son up on skis for the first time at Butternut. Talk about convenience...it is 10 minutes to the base of the mountain, and ten minutes back to town for awesome sushi!

Thanks David and Louise. Your hospitailty made the stay most enjoyable.
