Labor Day Weekend

stephandken Greensboro, NC
Review Submitted: September 5, 2007 Date of Stay: September 2007
We loved it! The photos do not do the cabin justice. The kitchen is perfect to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, the upstairs bed was sooo comfortable and the cabin was decorated so nicely. Everything was so wonderful and we were so sad to leave. It was so peaceful, the hammock was so relaxing. Sitting on the front porch in the early hours was so nice. We especially enjoyed hearing the river. We will definately be back. The road up was such an adventure and we are so glad we brought the Tahoe! This cabin is so relaxing and so romantic. You feel like there is no one else around. It was so difficult to actually venture out and visit the area because we didn't want to leave the cabin.

Great cabin

bluemuseart Wilmington, NC
Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We had our honeymoon in this cabin and it was lovely! The cabin itself has a rustic feel but all the amenities you need and the hot tub was great! We used the hot tub every day at least twice! You feel very secluded at this cabin, but it is a quick easy drive to town. Weaverville is cute, and downtown Asheville is a lot of fun. We went to tons of good vegetarian friendly restaurants and wine bars, as well as catching some good live music. Overall the experience was great! The only things to look out for are the driveway, as others have mentioned it is kind of rough, but we made it up and down okay in the Chevy Blazer. There were a few bugs in the cabin as well (a couple hornet type bugs got in and one big spider), but I suppose that is to be expected with a cabin! Overall it was not too buggy and was a very relaxing place to visit! We recommend it.

Everything we were looking for !!!!!

Great location. Far enough out to feel secluded, but close enough to downtown Asheville for a evening out. The cabin itself is perfect. It's truly a log cabin... not a pre-fab as we normally find. Great fireplace, awesome hot tud... great beds and furnishings. The river view is priceless. The BEST cabin rental we have ever experienced!!!! Take a truck or a high-riding car. Low riding cars will not make it up the drive (all the more remote and secluded).

Xmas jammin at the cabin

Butch and Teri Wilmington, DE
Review Submitted: December 19, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2008
We came all the way from Delaware to be at Warren Haynes' 20th annual Xmas Jam in Asheville and decided to find a cabin in the mountains so that we could bring the whole family - that means us and the dog ; ) We found the cabin to be even more adorable than the pictures. We slept in the comfy bed in the loft and throroughly enjoyed the hot tub -during the day we could see the river due to the bare trees but even at night we could hear the rushing river below - and when the train came by, it just added to the whole experience.
We ventured into Weaverville one night that just happened to be the annual "Candle Light Walk" and everyone was out - even Santa! We ate at the Cafe in town and the owner Patty was just a doll - she was originally from back east so we had a lot to talk about. While we were eating, two seperate groups of carolers came in to serenade us, it really put us into the Christmas spirit!
After the 2 nights of the Xmas jams shows were over we recuperated by going into Asheville to shop. The Grove Arcade had a gingerbread house contest and the houses were amazing and so was the Grove Arcade! We were also very impressed with the gentlemen selling gem jewelry outside the Grove Arcade - we couldn't believe how beautiful the jewelry was or that he braves the cold outside right up until Christmas!
Thank you June for all your help and for sharing such a wonderful place. We can't wait to come back!!

French Broad River is the Best!

Jim & Angela Cape Carteret, NC
Review Submitted: November 4, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
What a wonderful time we had! The cabin was charming and had everything we needed. Weaverville was a cute little town and we spent time driving around to see the Fall colors. Just being at the cabin was the best part, though. We would love to come back!

Really amazing honeymoon

J+D Chicago, IL
Review Submitted: September 15, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had a great time, this was our honeymoon and we loved the cabin. With that said, let me say something about the driveway. It is absolutely accessible with a front-wheel drive, you don't need a 4WD. But if you are coming in a sedan, I would advise going up the drive first time in daytime and going very slowly. When your car is loaded up, as ours was the first time, the weight of the extra luggage can cause the undercarriage to bottom out and hit the rocks on the driveway. After you unload your car, getting up and down will be easier. On the final approach to the cabin, pick up some speed so the momentum of your car will carry up over the final gravel portion of the drive.

I also have a beef with the advertising for the cabin, which says "internet access". They DO have a phone, and if you still have a phone modem (increasingly rare) you could get a dialup connection but I think most people when they hear "internet access" they think broadband or wifi. There ain't none of that in French Broad River cabin. It was easier looking up internet using my cellphone; signal reception was strong.

We had a great time and especially loved the hot tub. The kitchen is modern, and the air conditioning, while rarely needed, was a godsend on a few occasions. The washer and dryer was very handy too. We would definitely come back to French Broad River cabin.

The view of the French Broad River was obscured by trees at the time of year we went, but after the leaves fall I think the view would be grand.

Family Vacation in July

Dad Mom and 4 Kids Texas, USA
Review Submitted: July 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
My family and I are from Texas and we came up to see family and have a great vacation with the kids as well. Despite the rain, we had a wonderful time. The cabin was great for our family. Everything was well maintained and clean. Plenty of provided necessities and an absolute great place to relax. I would definitly recommend it for a family or especially for a couple who wants a romantic getaway. The kids really enjoyed the rabbits that came into the yard. The river was wonderful to hear all the time (very relaxing). The kids loved hearing the train that came through by the river a few times a day. Although we ventured out during the daytime, we did a lot of cooking at the cabin in the evenings and my husband loved using the grill. He finally got used to the driveway and it became a breeze to get up and down even with a 2 wheel drive truck. Would definitly recommend a truck, SUV, or 4 wheel drive. We are very glad we came and stayed at this cabin.
Thanks again Pete and June.

Exceeded expectations!

Review Submitted: May 13, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We drove from Michigan to enjoy some time in warmer weather and much needed decompression time. As we got closer, we had some fear about whether the cabin would be adequate. From the time we saw the place again (the pictures are accurate) and walked in the back door, we were not disappointed. The first thing we noticed is that familiar, comfortable cottage smell! It was wonderful. Next we went from area to area enjoying the decor, the lighting, and the views from each window. The kitchen is well appointed, the living room area comfortable and inviting. The loft was great, too. We enjoyed sitting on the deep and wide porch and enjoyed being serenaded by the cardinals, indigo buntings and wrens. The hot tub area is perfectly situated among the trees off to the side of the cabin.

I also recommend the use of 4 WD vehicle, although with care and lower gears you should be able to make it up the hill. However, for us, that just made it feel that much more secluded and private!
