The living room connects to the dining room, followed by the kitchen area. This main space is perfect for entertaining friends and family, with easy flow between rooms. Our renovated kitchen comes fully-equipped with all new appliances, cookware, and fixtures. Off the side of the kitchen we have a distinctive sun room with plush couches; this is a tranquil space to enjoy your morning cup of coffee and read the paper. The shared bathroom is one of a kind with a rare claw-foot bathtub and southern comfort style. Our house has all the comforts of home with authentic Austin style.
Travis Heights is a historic Austin Neighborhood in south downtown. The main attraction of this neighborhood is the proximity to South Congress Avenue. South Congress is full of hip cafes and stores, and attracts many tourists and young professionals from all over the world. South Congress Avenue is an easy four block stroll away or you can walk two blocks to East Riverside Drive; either way, you have access to all the best restaurants, bars and shopping that Austin has to offer. Watch a game on the patio at Doc's, grab a bite at one of the many great restaurants (we recommend Perla's), and then wind down with a nightcap at the Continental Club without ever moving your car. To get to downtown Austin is just as easy: call Uber, a cab, or hop in your car; either way you are just a short three minute drive/ride away.

Great location - easy walk to Congress street. The cottage was exactly like the photos showed. Perfect for a little for a weekend stay for my mom, sister and myself. The cottage was spacious, very clean and nicely furnished. Only odd thing was the lock was on the door that opened to the bedroom and not the door to the living room. Nice that it had a parking spot
My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much. A fantastic location, easy ten minute walk to South Congress, through the beautiful Travis Heights neighborhood. We chose to not rent a car, and were able to get to fun downtown activities always within a 30 min or less walk. Check in and check out we're easy, with the keypad entry system. The only rec I would make to the owners is regarding bedding. The sheets and bed were comfortable, but on the cold nights we were staying there, we could have used a nicer heavier comforter as well. All in all, a wonderful visit.
The property manager was very helpful.
The vacation rental was spotless.
I was very happy with the location.
I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
We had a great time and the house was perfect. Location couldn't have been better. Very clean and the beds were VERY comfortable.
This was so much nicer than a hotel and it was less expensive! No weird smells, nice and clean. Great kitchen.
The only favorable features of this property are these: location (a quiet street in Travis Heights) and good mattresses. The place is otherwise dismally inadequate -- in need of painting outside and inside and in need of thorough cleaning and refurnishing and especially in need of basic kitchen wares and dishes and glasses. When I visit Austin, I enjoy buying food from local farms and local farmers' markets, and so I usually rent a place with a kitchen so that I can store my food and cook my own meals. I entered Casa Vinita's dark interior and immediately smelled stale air and moth balls, and when I reached the kitchen, I found the it shockingly inadequate. Almost all the eating utensils were plastic. The only cutting knives were a paring knife and a steak knife. The only cooking vessels were two small, dirty skillets and one large, dirty skillet. The stove top was dirty, with grease spatters and bits of dried vegetable matter around the burners and on the back panel. There's a small set of dinner and salad plates, bowls, saucers and cups, but no serving dishes or serving utensils. There are four wine glasses, but the only two coffee mugs are "freebies" from a diagnostic clinic. Kitchen drawers, like everything else, were dirty, some filled with twine and "beer brand" coasters and the like, apparently left from previous tenants. I was disgusted and called the owner right away and said the house was not really clean, especially the kitchen, and that the kitchen supplies were appallingly inadequate. I asked for at least a partial refund, which she refused. She said she'd go out and buy kitchen items that I specified were basic to kitchen functionality, which she did, and when she came, she also wiped down the stove top. I could then do the cooking I needed to do, but it was very unpleasant to stay in such a shabby and poorly appointed house. Not only is the kitchen inadequately supplied, but there are no bedside or sofa-side reading lamps. The sofa itself is a cheap, ugly sort of sectional, with big throw pillows against the back -- most uncomfortable. The beds had clean sheets but no bedspreads, only a blanket folded at the foot. This property appears to be valued by its owners only as a cash cow, with little if any thought given to the comfort of people who PAY to stay there. I will never stay there again, never recommend it to anyone, and in fact warn friends interested in renting in that area to steer clear of this property.
I have stayed at this wonderful oasis two years in a row for the music portion of SXSW. It is conveniently close to South Congress and also to downtown Austin. We walked everywhere from here and it couldn't have been more perfect. The home is charming and clean and very private. There are marvelous live oak trees surrounding the property and it is a pleasure to sit and watch the Grackles from the back patio in the morning with a cup of coffee as we planned our day of music. Austin is a terrific town to visit and this house is the perfect location to use as a home-base for all your activities.
Travis Heights is a charming, eclectic, and historic neighborhood located in south Austin, Texas. It is known for it's proximity to downtown, SoCo, IH-35, Lady Bird Lake, Zilker Park, and Barton Springs Pool. If you are interested in enjoying the music scene and bars on 6th Street, dining and shopping on South Congress (SoCo) Avenue, hiking or jogging on the trail around Lady Bird Lake, enjoying the festivities during the South-by-Southwest or ACL festivals, or taking a dip in Barton Springs - all are within walking distance. We are also a short walk from Hotel Saint Cecilia.
Travis Heights is home to Big Stacy and Little Stacy parks and the Blunn Creek greenbelt. Nearby attractions and venues include Auditorium Shores and Austin Convention Center for SXSW, as well as Zilker Park for ACL Fest, and the Moody Theater for ACL Live. A short drive on nearby IH-35 will get you to Inner Space Cavern, one of the best preserved caves in Texas. Or satisfy your shopping itch by visiting the giant outlet malls in neighboring San Marcos or Round Rock. An approximate 20-30 minute drive will get you to the new Formula 1 racetrack.
Austin is known as the Live Music Capital of the world - and many of the clubs that host these bands are located on infamous 6th Street in downtown. Also nearby are a multitude of restaurants, the Warehouse district, the State Capitol, Guadalupe street (AKA 'the Drag'), and of course the UT campus and home to the Texas Longhorns - all within a few minutes drive or comfortable walk into downtown.
