Roundstone is approx 7 Miles from Cashel.The village of Roundstone lies on the western arm of Bertraghboy bay in Connemara, Co. Galway, 48 miles (77km) north-west of Galway city. It also has two magnificent beaches, Dogs bay and Gurteen Beach.The village is beautifully set on one of the most spectacular coastal drives in Europe overlooking the Atlantic at the foot of Errisbeg Mountain. In Roundstone you will find a busy harbour where local fishermen prepare and return with the day’s catch, featuring a mix of Lobster, Crab, Shrimp, Mackerel, Cod plus a wide variety of other fish. Carna:
Carna is approx 10 miles from cashel.In our neighnouring village,Carna, which is situated in the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking region) It is very popular here for its Traditional singing, music, and dancing.Carna, in the heart of Gaeltacht on the shores of Galway Bay is an area where Irish is the everyday language. This is an area rich in ancient culture and tradition. In the sixth century St. McDara built a small church on one of the islands off the coast. The unique stone roof of the church has recently been restored. The saints feast day is celebrated in mid July when people make their way to island for the celebration of mass. This is also an area renowned for its skilled boat makers the best known of these being the Galway Hookers and the small craft used commonly along the west coast called the currach.
Clifden:
Clifden is approx 14 Miles from cashel. Clifden being the capital of connemara is a must see. Set between the Atlantic Ocean, 12 Ben Mountains and preserved boglands, lies the town of Clifden on the Coast of Connemara.there is lots to do in this town from shopping in sweater shops, quality gift shops, boutique to antique and souvenir shops. Lunch in the many tea-shops,pubs and in the evenings, indulge in Clifden's emerging reputation as the West's 'Gourmet Capital' by dining in its fine restaurants. there is many horse trecking centres around this area.
