About Ines Swansburg

My name is Ines, I am of Dutch descend but was born in Spain hence the spanish name. I moved with my family to Victoria BC, straight from the Costa Brava in Spain when I was 14 years old. Now, that is a long time ago! I am a registerd nurse and love my job in the community. I have two sons that are teenagers and a small mix breed non-shedding 12 lbs dog. I also love my place out in Sooke that I share with many people all over the world. It is the perfect place to get away from our busy lives.

Ines Swansburg purchased this house in 1992

Why Ines Swansburg chose Sooke

This home was my first home that I owned and never could bring myself to sell it. Renting out month to month could not give me the options to enjoy it so the vacation rental option was perfect for us!

What makes this house unique

Peace and tranquility. Love getting close to the sun, fresh air and ocean breeze.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sad to leave, had a awesome vacation went to Victoria for the day, visited Botanical Beach, drove to Comox and all with great weather. Well equipped cottage, the best view ever and the hot tub made our stay very enjoyable. We'll be back to visit again.

ps; our doggie Maggie had a fun vacation too!

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I traveled to Sooke this month as we are looking at moving there. We decided to stay at Surfside Cottage so we could all stay together (my husband, 3yr old daughter and my parents). The cottage was perfect for us. It became a home away from home as we really looked forward to returning in the evenings. Even going so far as being glad when dinner plans fell through so we could stay at the cottage by the fire and just relax. We used all three rooms and while we weren't sure what to expect with the "teen room" it worked for us as my parents stayed in that room. It's a small room in the lower level of the house with an outside door and it's own small bathroom. The beds are a little smaller than a normal twin but my father, who is 5'10" fit just fine. The 2 rooms upstairs are large and have plenty of room for luggage. Everything was provided as well as far as kitchen gadgets and dishes. All the beds in the house are extremely comfortable and everything was sparkling clean. It is a bit of a walk from the parking area to the house down a path and it's so worth it.

This was all about the view though. We even saw a whale making his way by on our last day. He was so close we could have thrown a rock and hit him. Standing at the living room windows with the fire crackling, watching the whale slowly swim by was something we'll remember forever! Although an orca or 2 would have been even better! :)

It was relaxing, quiet and peaceful and we appreciated it very much. We will be back once our house sells so we can go house hunting yet again!

Thank you Ines!

Surfside was brilliant

  • 5 of 5

Our family, including three grown children and two dogs had a wonderful though all too short stay at this property. It was a great place to relax after a hard day touring the south of the island.

The property is secluded and the beach is a must especially to watch the sunset . Very cosy and well equipped we would definitely come back. Sooke is very close and Mom's cafe is worth a visit . The apple pie portion would feed an army.Thank you Ines.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. It was everything you could ask for and more. The setting and ocean view was spectacular!

All the previous comments are spot on so no need to elaborate with this one.

You will not be disappointed staying at Surfside Cottage.

Super Surfside Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family had a few very pleasant days at Surfside in mid-February. It was an ideal holiday situation for us and we all enjoyed it very much.

We loved the cliffside location with the great water view, deck and hot tub. There are stairs down to a private beach area as well. The house is situated well off and below the road, near the beach, so we found it very quiet and peaceful.

Inside, liberal use of wood finishings makes the house have an appealing cottage feel. A spacious kitchen and island makes possible an absolutely fully stocked kitchen, with everything one would expect in a full time residence. The newly renovated bathroom and comfortable beds and furniture throughout rounded out our postive impressions.

There is parking for two or three cars, and Sooke is only about 5 km away to the east.

Surfside is a great place to relax in attractive surroundings with family or friends. We hope to return in future.

This was the best vacation ever. The cottage was fully stocked, right down to board games and books. The yellow roses were in bloom on the back of the cottage and they were my babies for the week just beautiful! The view amazing!!! Can't wait to home back!

We loved our relaxing stay at 'Surf Side House' Thank you Ines for sharing your beautiful home. The first thing that hits you when you walk onto the property is the stunning unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean. The word 'Wow' was the first word out of our mouths. This view is enjoyed from that first moment and further showcased through the big windows in the house. We also loved the hot tub perched above the ocean so much! There are so many lovely things to say about this house. The open concept design, a well stocked kitchen with plenty of housewares, a super comfy long couch and reclining chairs, a cozy wood stove, a super comfy king sized bed. The special touches of an abundance of beach towels for the hot tub and a towel at the front door to dry off our little doggies. The tourist brochures, spices in the cupboard, coffee, tea and sugar in the canisters. The outdoor area is charming with views everywhere and offers privacy as well. The patio was a lovely place to watch the wildlife swim by. My husband loved the huge bbq! This beautiful property is close to so many beautiful beaches and parks. Sooke Pot Holes, French Beach and not too far from Jordan River where you can watch the surfers (rain or shine! ) We took a little day trip to Botanical Beach which I highly recommend. Incredible huge waves crashing in. We were so distracted by their beauty that we didn't see the big black bear enjoying the view as well. I don't think we've ever run so fast! There are many fantastic memories that have been made from our stay at your home Ines and I cannot wait for the next time! Thank you!!
