Total privacy assured via 60 wide steps down from the road, with a sensational sunset view of the Platt Hill State Park Scenic Reserve over the 1/2 mile wide peaceful Third Bay. Connecticut's second largest lake, 3 miles long and 60 ft deep with 15 ft visibility, is known for it's bass and trout fishing, in numbers & size. Awesome snow, water, & jet Skiing, sailing, or kayaking in our beautiful Bay or any of five quiet coves. Oversized two story wrap around deck allows for a large 15 person gathering. Plenty of state forests and parks to explore; don't forget antiquing in Winsted, at the turn of the century the Nations largest clock manufacturing center. A mere 5 minutes from the Winchester Town Green National Historic District and 1890 Civil War Monument/Tower & Park. PLEASE CONSERVE WATER WHENEVER POSSIBLE, especially when our home is fully occupied and the well is tasked. We've never had a problem, but are always mindful. Bathrooms have nice water views.

Just Perfect

I grew up vacationing on this lake and was very used to the "typical cottage". This house is anything but typical. The open floor plan and large windows gave us incredible views of the lake and hills from any room that we were in. The owners spent much effort appointing this house with modern appliances and kitchenware. Everything is really top notch. We arrived to an immaculately clean house with beds made up and towels fluffed and all in place. The house is decorated in a clean comfortably contemporary manner. It has a sort-of spa like feel. The owners have done everything possible to make their guests as comfortable and relaxed.

This is not your average cottage.

This home is perfect it has everything you would ever need. once you get down to the home you are right on the water. and it is a beautifull quite lake. I must be honest the stairs are a bit much. For us the stairs were to much. also my daughter and husband and 2 children thought it was to much.not really for some one who has any kind of knee problems. I do think Chris is great to deal with and I would rent from him again. just not there.
I am a lot surprised that the first review never said a word about the stairs? to sum it all up. the home is great. the stairs are tough.
Owner's Response: We are disappointed that your stay was anything less than perfect.

The 60 new steps from the parking area to the front door were recently installed specifically to improve access. They are manufactured slabs of "granite' measuring 2' 6" wide with a low 6" riser, for easy passage. In addition, there are five intermittent landings (every 12 steps) which serve to break up the descent. Please see photo.

The house itself is three stories, and naturally has an appropriate two flights of stairs. Each includes a landing accompanied by custom oak handrails, and should therefore be considered easy to navigate by anyone with normal health.

Beautiful and luxurious place

Though we knew that this was a brand new house with lovely photos posted on its site, the reality of its beauty surpassed our expectations. Each and every room is furnished nicely and has a beautiful view of the lake. The kitchen is styled with the best of appliances and all utensils one could possibly need.
Waking up and seeing nothing but trees and the lake was memorable. Outside there is a large patio on which to read, eat, or just contemplate the beauties of nature. For hikers, there are many state parks nearby where one can choose any type of trail one desires or one can swim or kayak off the pier right in back of the house. There is a large Stop & Shop within a ten minute drive.
Chris, who owns the house, tried to be as accommodating as possible. He is pleasant and easy to work with and wants the occupants to have a wonderful vacation.
All in all, one couldn't wish for a prettier, more peaceful and lovely place to spend some time.
