I rented this house in the "off season" as a convenient get away from Rye New York...family can go back and forth to work etc throughout the week. It was the perfect retreat. Great winter escape-beautiful setting allows for peaceful time with books, friends, games, wifi, views,- best to do a large food shopping spree and relax.
If wanted, Skiing at Sundown is an easy 15 minute drive. House in excellent condition and has a fun relaxed layout. Would love to go back in the summer season to see lake in full swing.
Don't miss this lakefront stunner in a prime location on Highland lake !! Whether you bring a jet ski or a book, you will not be disappointed. Unprecedented views from this gorgeous modern home, would be captivating in any season. Cant wait to return to try the multiple fireplaces. If you require ease in booking, prompt courteous responses, or area recommendations, look no further than Chris. He could not have been more helpful. Great for a week or a long weekend!
First of all, Chris was an absolute pleasure to deal with the entire time leading up to my party's stay. He was polite, helpful, and unbelievably prompt in his responses.
As for the house, It is absolutely beautiful and you will not be let down. It feels brand new and has all of the amenities you could ask for in a vacation house: Kitchen appliances are fantastic and seem very up-to date, granite counters are beautiful, great gas-stove top, and impeccable bedrooms, bathrooms and showers. The home is also incredibly clean and spotless.
Hands-down the best part of the house is the view, though. When you first walk in you are treated to a breath-taking visual of the lake through the large glass windows (seen in the photo); it is really quite picturesque and makes a perfect morning gathering place to drink a cup of coffee and eat breakfast, The master bedroom (located on the top floor) has it's own private view as well, and there is a gas fireplace located in the room to up the luxurious feel.
The deck is spacious and beautiful as well, and the dock is in an area plenty deep enough to jump into the fresh water lake.
I would definitely rent again and many people in my party were commenting how they were looking to lock up a weekend for them and their spouses next year. A+
I grew up vacationing on this lake and was very used to the "typical cottage". This house is anything but typical. The open floor plan and large windows gave us incredible views of the lake and hills from any room that we were in. The owners spent much effort appointing this house with modern appliances and kitchenware. Everything is really top notch. We arrived to an immaculately clean house with beds made up and towels fluffed and all in place. The house is decorated in a clean comfortably contemporary manner. It has a sort-of spa like feel. The owners have done everything possible to make their guests as comfortable and relaxed.
This is not your average cottage.
This home is perfect it has everything you would ever need. once you get down to the home you are right on the water. and it is a beautifull quite lake. I must be honest the stairs are a bit much. For us the stairs were to much. also my daughter and husband and 2 children thought it was to much.not really for some one who has any kind of knee problems. I do think Chris is great to deal with and I would rent from him again. just not there.
I am a lot surprised that the first review never said a word about the stairs? to sum it all up. the home is great. the stairs are tough.
Though we knew that this was a brand new house with lovely photos posted on its site, the reality of its beauty surpassed our expectations. Each and every room is furnished nicely and has a beautiful view of the lake. The kitchen is styled with the best of appliances and all utensils one could possibly need.
Waking up and seeing nothing but trees and the lake was memorable. Outside there is a large patio on which to read, eat, or just contemplate the beauties of nature. For hikers, there are many state parks nearby where one can choose any type of trail one desires or one can swim or kayak off the pier right in back of the house. There is a large Stop & Shop within a ten minute drive.
Chris, who owns the house, tried to be as accommodating as possible. He is pleasant and easy to work with and wants the occupants to have a wonderful vacation.
All in all, one couldn't wish for a prettier, more peaceful and lovely place to spend some time.
