Charming, exactly as advertised, great location

This lovely little place is about a ten minute drive from downtown and a lot less to Balboa Park. Everything was in pristine condition and it was exactly as advertised. There is a nice little backyard and plenty of room for two couples (which we had). The kitchen had all that we needed for making some meals there. We found the beds quite comfortable (check the comments, not everyone did). The owner was very responsive to all of our needs and everything we needed to know was spelled out clearly in a helpful three-ring binder on the coffee table. We really enjoyed our time in San Diego and would highly recommend this place!

Pretty much as advertised.

The property is pretty much as advertised. The best part of the property is the back yard, small but very nice. Many extra pillows, blankets and towels were a nice touch. Was very clean. However, on the negative side. Ad says cable/satellite. This is true, however the total number of channels available were at the bare minimum. There were the broadcast networks, several Spanish stations, the weather channel and maybe two or three other cable channels. The owner should pay for a decent selection similar to what a hotel would have available. The wireless internet would constantly go out every couple hours and would have to be unplugged to reset. The router and/or modem should be updated. The beds consist of very thin mattresses on springs. They are noisy and not very comfortable. They should be updated to full size mattresses and box springs. One of the neighbors had numerous cars pulling up and quickly leaving at times. Draw your own conclusions. There is an instruction booklet to read upon rental. I found it somewhat condescending. For example it warns that parties are not allowed and if there is a party the neighbors will call her to tell her. We are not high school students home alone while the parents are out of town. I do not expect to be treated as such. That was in addition to numerous statements of you must do this or must not do that. They should really rewrite the booklet to make polite requests instead of demands and threats of not returning a deposit. As a vacation renter I want to feel appreciated and not like I am an intruder in someone's house which is what the booklet makes you feel like. Overall, the home was just fine and ok. If the owner updates the items indicated, other than the neighbor's visitors which likely need police action, then the house would easily go to four stars and would be recommended.
Owner's Response: Thank you for submitting your review! It was recently pointed out to me, and I have to say, I was very surprised after reading it. I'd like to address some of your concerns.

I have asked the current tenant, who has been in the house for a few weeks now, about the internet connection, and she has told me that it is working very well, no problems. She has been using it on her laptop every day. She said that it is a solid, fast connection that doesn’t give her any problems. I don't know what issue you were having, but it does not appear to be happening anymore.

To address The beds consist of very thin mattresses on springs. They are noisy and not very comfortable. They should be updated to full size mattresses and box springs.
The beds in my home have mattresses that are on wooden slats, not on springs. There is one foam mattress and one spring mattress. I understand that you didn't like the beds, but I actually had a tenant call me the week of Thanksgiving to ask me where she could purchase the mattress in the back bedroom because she loved it so much! I respect your opinion that you feel mattresses should be on box springs, however, many of the more modern beds now do not use box springs. Just check out stores like Design Within Reach or even IKEA. I have slept on the beds in my house for a few years, and I Iike them too.

To address One of the neighbors had numerous cars pulling up and quickly leaving at times. Draw your own conclusions.
Yikes! My widowed neighbor is not well, and she lives alone. She has a nurse visit her every day to deliver medicine. She has meals on wheels come to the house. She also has some friends that check on her. I feel a little frustrated by your insinuation. My house is in a nice neighborhood. I know all of my neighbors and they are all very kind and are good people.

To address There is an instruction booklet to read upon rental. I found it somewhat condescending.
I am sorry that the book offended you. I guess I just see it as being direct. I don't want my tenants to smoke in the house, so I write Do not smoke in the house. I am a pretty direct person, but I completely understand that other people may be more comfortable with a different sort of communication style. I will certainly review the book and I will ask for feedback from others on how to improve it.

I'm so glad that you liked the backyard, and that the house was very clean and also that you had plenty of blankets and pillows. Thank you for staying!

Just what we needed

I vacationed here with my 7 year old daughter, and this place was exactly what we needed. The location was great (within about 10-15 minutes of just about everything). The house was clean and welcoming (I loved the retro look of it), and my daughter loved being outside in the back yard when we were at the house. The owner was very responsive and friendly, and I would definitely rent this house again next time we go to San Diego. We really enjoyed it!

This is exactly what we needed. 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a nice patio. The house is very clean and the bedrooms are a good size with closet space available. I will say that the street is slightly noisier than I expected, but nothing too extreme. I would definitely stay here again.

We can surely recomend this vacation rental in San Diego.
It is in a safe location. Close to the Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo. A larger supermarket is nearby.

The property is clean and well maintained. It offered a lot of kitchen utensils as well as towels and beachtowels.

We loved the garden. Our doughter could play there and we could have a nice dinner outside. A bbq is provided as well as garden chairs and a table.

We would come back if we are staying in San Diego again.
