This summer cottage was built in the early 20th century, as part of a group of ten cottages, connected by a wooden boardwalk suspended through the woods above Lake Michigan. It has been in the same family since 1936. Its decor has retained the simple wood and straw look since that time. Its vaulted living room has a brick fireplace, and period glass windows all around that frame the lake view, leading to the front deck and sand terrace. The location is ideal, surrounded by woods, perched above glorious Lake Michigan, about 30 steps down to the private white sand dune beach. It is about a 10-minute walk to the Pentwater channel to the south along the beach, and 5 minutes more into town from there.

This is a very special place.

Notes: There are lots of railings to accomodate elderly people, but it is not wheelchair accessible. There are about 40 steps to the beach, but only about 10 to the 'perch'. There are lots of sand toys and a sand 'terrace' to play in. Kids games and books for indoor. No tv, but wireless internet access. My grandmother's kitchen is small, but has everything you need.
