This adorable rustic gambrel cabin rest along the edge of the some very impressive waters. With the two kayaks that come along with the cottage, one can kayak over to Castine Village, or deep in to the Bagaduce River. Certain areas may require more skill, as there are reversing falls and narrows (where waters move more rapidly based on the tides), so do your homework before venturing too far. The cabin is sweet and comfortable. The kitchen has a small bar, adjoined by a small dining and sitting area. Two bedrooms are upstairs, divided by a den w/ sleeper sofa. There is a screened porch which overlooks the water. The cottage is surrounded by a large acreage of pasture with wooded boundaries, with ample shorefront on Lords Cove, where waters of the Bagaduce River and Castine Harbor merge. IMPROVEMENTS: The addition is two stories, each for a total square footage of 288 fsq. ft.The modifications will achieve the following: Making the living room larger, one bedroom will be larger, both bedrooms will have closets, the stairs will be less steep with a landing halfway up, there will be a game room/reading room/study upstairs (about 8 by 12 feet) in addition to the two bedrooms, a mud room of the same size below, and a stacked washer/dryer will be tucked under the stairs. The mud room will have tile flooring, and the rest of the addition will be oak hardwood floors. The south-facing part of the new roof will have solar tubes, to heat water in an environmentally friendly manner. The north facing slope of the new roof will have a sunroof for more natural lighting.
