This 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath is an oasis in the heart of Boothbay Harbor area. As you walk in the house, you first notice an amazing view of the cove. When you sit comfortably in the living room, you can admire the Buffleheads (small American sea ducks) the blue herons, egrets and many other splendors on the water. The body of water is a tidal cove of the Sheepscot River, nestled in this unique spot away from the busy town. The cove is a place of tranquility where all worries disappear. This perfectly decorated home with a mixture of exquisite antiques and comfortable modern furniture is the place to relax and unwind.
The home has a fully equipped kitchen with beautiful blue china, granite counter-tops and brand new stainless steel appliances perfect for preparing any kind of gourmet meal. All through the home there are paintings tastefully selected to capture the allure of what represents Maine and all that is nautical. It has four fireplaces. We mostly use the one in the living room and also provide the wood.
The kitchen is an open concept with high ceilings that opens to the living area. Here you have the sensation that you are on a boat, due to the fact that the cottage is so near the water and the land is not visible at high tide. The family room has a wood fireplace for romantic nights overlooking the water. There is also a Kurzweil Digital Grand Piano in the living room.
There are sliding doors that open to the deck; the perfect spot to watch the sunset that will gracefully paint a unforgettable picture on your heart. This spot will make you fall in love with Boothbay and you'll never want to spend another day anywhere else. The deck has outside furniture with a table that sits six as well as two comfortable outside chairs. All through the house there are original beams that give character to this completely updated home.
The first floor also has a half bath that is designed to look like an old style English phone booth with red walls and antique door. This is a one-of-a-kind artifact that will enchant you. There is an elegant dining room that seats 8, with comfortable dining room chairs and a view of the perennial gardens. Collectible china, silverware and all that is necessary for an authentic Maine lobster dinner are provided. On the first floor there is also a library with a great selection of books including an impressive collection of nautical books and decor. The library can be used as a place for meetings, formal gatherings or just a quiet spot for reading and relaxation. This room overlooks the cove and it has a fireplace and a cable TV. The first floor also provides a laundry room complete with a washer, clothes dryer, iron and board.
The three bedrooms are on the second level of the cottage.
The Master bedroom has double bed, a fireplace, a walk-in closet, a fitting area, cable TV (Time Warner Cable-on demand), DVD player. The view from the master bedroom is of the beautiful cove and the perennial gardens and lawn.
The Master Bedroom has a master bath with a spacious standup shower.
The second bedroom has a double bed and a full bath with a bathtub. The view from here is of the perennial gardens. This bedroom is decorated with warm neutral colors, with a nature theme and nautical decor. This bedroom also has cable TV.
The third bedroom has the view of the cove, fireplace, a day bed with trundle (two twins) and it's decorated with spring colors and nature theme. This lively room is the perfect place for romantic dreamers.
All the bedrooms have upscale linens, towels and all the necessities provided.
The property has a little over two acres and its secluded location makes it the best spot for a perfect getaway. The perennial garden and the lily pond on the property are remarkable and very well maintained. The unique name of the cottage represents the rare encounter with the beautiful little bufflehead ducks that nestle in the cove away from the murmur of the town.
Come and see it and you will know why we love it so much!
The Branch Family has a long history of more than one hundred years with the Boothbay Harbor Area. The Branches have owned property here since 1909, on the edge of Linekin Bay and later on, in 1946 established Linekin Bay Camp, now Linekin Bay Resort. For a while it was even known as “Branch Camp” – you can still find it in old maps. Over the years the love of this beautiful land kept the family together… every summer spent together watching children grow and marry and then having children of their own. For those how are not yet familiar with the area, they will soon learn what it means to live in a town somewhere else, but to have their heart and soul in Maine.
For this very reason, the house was bought in 2006. Over the years it was turned into the beautiful home that is today. Passionate with art and all that is nautical, the Branch family maintains the tradition of unity and so it is seen all through the home. If you are an old soul or an adventurous traveler, this home is for you. You can find the history of the area tucked into every nook and cranny of the house and thus discover new things about yourself. Since this is a year round house, the family spends not only summers but also holidays here like, Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter and every time the family gets together, we feel stronger and more united than ever. We love Maine and we love our Maine Home and we know you will love it too. And so we invite you into our lovely home and this enchanting region, to have The Perfect Holiday.
Cordially, Peter Branch and Paula Carreiro.
