The property was wonderful. It was as advertised, very secluded. We were disappointed that we could not use the fire pit, but understood the reason. One thing I would recommend is that you may want to inform possible guests that in order to access the loft, one must pull down attic steps. It was a little difficult for seniors. Other than that it was great. It was nice having laundry facilities so that we didn't have to do laundry as soon as we got home. The location is central to many sites and is a good home base. We went to Deadwood, Lead, Sturgis, Devils Tower, Spearfish Canyon, Hill City, Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore. A good time was had by all. The kitchen is well stocked, however, we were not there enough to do much cooking, mostly coffee in the morning on the patio and one night we did hot dogs on the grill. The weather was PERFECT! We had highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s. We did not get to talk to the owners in person; maybe next time. Chris was very nice on the phone! All in all it was a great vacation and a great cabin!
Note: I didn't understand why no pets were allowed. Guests at the 2nd cabin had 2 big dogs!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you liked the cabin and the area. I'm sorry that you weren't able to use the fire pit. The Black Hills Forest service put a ban on all fires in early July due to the drought. This is the first time they have done this since we have been opened (4years). Sorry that I didn't get to meet you. My mom got sick and passed away a few weeks ago. The big dogs on the deck at the cabin next door belonged to the gal that works for me. We haven't opened that cabin yet due to the difficult summer that I had dealing with my mom. We are working on it so it will be opened in the spring of 2013. I don't let dogs in our cabins due to the large number of people that are allergic to them. Next time you will have to stay at the new cabin (#2) since it doesn't have any steps inside. It will be a really nice cabin like the one you stayed in.
