Bisbee is a quaint little western town, and an unusual little town at that. And so is Above & Beyond Rentals. Its very colorful, filled with the owner's original art and personal collectables. It is a curious blend of comfort & unique decor, with all the needed amenities that bring our guests back time and time again.

You can close the front door and stroll for only 5 minutes to arrive at the 'High Desert Market' for fresh pastries and coffee or for pizza and delicious salad across the road at 'Screaming Banchee'. Another 5 minute's walk takes you to the heart of our unique, artsy historic town. There are many artisan shops along Main Street and neighboring alleys that feature nationally renown artists. You can dine at Arizona's finest restaurants or even at our elegantly restored historic hotels.

There are interesting tours available. You can start with a historic walking tour. Michael London, Bisbee archivist and historian extraordinaire, is now available for walking tours. Experience a journey into the past while touring the streets and avenues of historic Bisbee. Or what about the Old Bisbee Ghost Tour that is the only one of its kind? Your Ghost Host leads you on a walking tour through Old Bisbee's streets, stairways, and old alleys after dark on an adventure to discover and learn about the ghosts that haunt this hundred twenty five year old town. Learn their history and favorite haunts while seeing Old Bisbee when very few do, after sunset.

Take a Lavendar Jeep Tour. There are 7 tours options. One of the tours, Sky Island Adventure, takes two hours. You actually rise to 7,400 feet. Another featured tour, The Back Roads of Bisbee, is a 90 minute tour on the narrow, twisting back roads. The Mining Landscape Tour is a complete comprehensive tour of the Warren Mining District (Bisbee). You can also visit the Bisbee copper mine, once the largest in the U.S. And wherever you go, you're sure to encounter the colorful characters who call Bisbee their home.

Just recently a new Ghost Towns Tour became available. You experience the real neighboring town of Tombstone going beyond the 20 second gunfight. You visit quieter ghosts lying lonely in the desert. You’ll see the old hospital, general store, school and jail in the copper camp Gleeson where Native Americans mined turquoise in antiquity. You visit Rattlesnake, home to all things found in the desert and finally move on to Courtland and Pearce along the Ghost Town Trail.

Consider using Above & Beyond Rentals as your base while you explore the Southwest desert or hike to the tops of nearby mountains or even recoup from a long distance bike ride. There are state parks within 30 minutes of town. Take a tour of the spectacular Karchner caverns. Birders love to watch the sand hill cranes swoop down to feed in a local lagoon.

About Pamela

I emigrated from South Africa to the USA in 1978. I have lived in San Diego all this time. I am an acupuncturist and psychologist by profession. I come to Bisbee on a regular basis and volunteer my time at the free clinic offered by the Wellness Initiative in Bisbee as well as the Women's Shelter.

I conduct personal classes, seminars and retreats in Bisbee. I focus a lot educating groups about alternative approaches to medicine like acupuncture, homeopathy and nutrition as well as mini stress management workshops. Let me know if you have an interested group and we can tailor a workshop around your needs.

Pamela purchased this house in 2007

Why Pamela chose Bisbee

I am truly grateful to my friend, Buckley, who pointed me in the direction of Bisbee just months before his untimely death in 2007. I was amazed to find how much I loved being in Bisbee every time I visited. Bisbee has a charm of its own. This historical mining town is a friendly and liberal community. It offers a wide variety of pleasures - everything from great hiking & fine dining to old-west saloons, mining history, Victorian architecture and world-class birding opportunities. There are a ton of trails both east and west of Bisbee maintained by the National Park Service

What makes this house unique

My home is spacious and so centrally situated! Its an easy walk to town, right on the main road, easily accessible with no stairs to climb. There is parking right outside and a fabulous, large deck tucked away behind the front house - ideal for quiet evenings at home, or private outdoor entertaining.

The home is also ideal to serve the needs of:

- 3-generation family get away, with outdoor privacy & room for everyone.

- Private venue for spiritual and special interest groups.

- Special family event venue - private living space in the heart of Old Bisbee that visitors just love to see.

- Recent addition - guest proposed to his fiancee. She was thrilled!

-Personal or Family get away - clean, easy to maintain environment with all the amenities you need to make your stay feel like 'home away from home.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

This home was a cute place, conveniently located and a an easy walk to all the shops and restaurants of Bisbee.

However, when we arrived, there was only one almost-gone roll of toilet paper and not any additional rolls for 4 adults staying overnight. We checked all drawers and cabinets in the bathroom and found nothing. We had to go to a store late at night to remedy this. This seems to be in issue in some of the other reviews, so it might be good to keep a stock of toilet paper for the house somewhere.

Owner's Response: I'm so so sorry to hear that. We have spoken to our cleaning crew about this several times now. We only learn that they don't respond to our requests by your honest feedback and we appreciate that immensely. You can be sure that we will follow up on this again. Thanks for letting us know.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

I spent 7 nights and love it. The house is beautiful and has everything one could possibly need. The location is perfect and an easy walk to everything. Bisbee is a great town. It's like stepping back in time. Makes a great base too for visiting the Chiricahuas and San Pedro River. The people in Bisbee are very friendly. Don't miss the Bisbee Royale for a movie and good food.

Comfortable but noisy furnace

  • 3 of 5

The unit is very comfortable. We loved Bisbee and the location is great. We were here for the Christmas holiday and we appreciated the festive decorations. Nice touch. The home was very clean was furnished with everything we needed. Beds were comfortable.

So why my less than good rating?

Upon arrival, the reserved, sole parking spot was taken. The host told me over the phone to go talk to the other tenant and ask him to relocate his vehicle. I don't think this should be the responsible of the arriving tenant ... to get into a spat over the parking spot. After a long tiring drive, I wanted no part of this. I saw the individual the next day and he was unapproachable on this situation. Great ... a parking dispute while on vacation. Again, I wanted no part of this and found another spot.

If you enjoy restful sleep then the other issue is the loud banging furnace. I assume this would not be an issue for most of the year (low demand for the use of a furnace). But we had to have heat so no choice. Ironically, the owners invested in some very nice sound-insulating windows so street noise was minimal. But every night we had to try and sleep through the trapped Bisbee miner banging away on the heating ducts.

Owner's Response: We apologize for the inconvenience of the noisy furnace. Please know that unbeknown to us, the furnace was breaking down during your stay. It has now been replaced, so no more noise! As for our 'un co-operative' guest in the little red house studio, its very unusual to come against that type of situation,. The guest did not have a phone, so there was no way for us to get in touch with him in a timely fashion and hence our reason for requesting that you try and speak to him directly, which we understand, did not help either. Fortunately, there is an additional space right next to it, so there is an alternative place to park off the street, one of our well appreciated luxuries to have in old Bisbee.

Nice house in Bisbee!

  • 4 of 5

This house is so welcoming. My first impression was that it is just perfect. The decor is very bright and cheerful, and the location is great. The house is stocked with practically anything a family might need during their stay. We had a one year old with us and the alphabet magnets and collection of videos were great to occupy her when needed. The only items we lacked were sufficient quantities of toilet paper and bath towels. There was one roll of toilet paper and two towels for 5 people for two nights.

Owner's Response: Hi Carrie, So happy to hear that you enjoyed staying at our home. FYI - There are usually 2 additional toilet paper rolls kept in the drawer next to the toilet. You must have missed opening it. As for the towels, there is a closet full of towels in the laundry room. Now I know to tell our guests in advance where to locate them. Thanks for helping us with that. Look forward to seeing your family back again soon.
