Welcome to this classic log cabin on the shores of pristine Farrington Pond. Nestled between upper and lower Kezar Lake this inviting year round home provides a perfect place to vacation and relax with your loved ones. Whether on the dock or on the screened porch you will enjoy the peaceful solitude of a lakeside mountain retreat. After a day of swimming, sailing, canoeing, fishing, hiking, skiing or reading, enjoy a campfire under a canopy of stars, and listen to the call of the loons
This cabin features a Maine field stone fireplace in a spacious cathedral ceiling great room which includes the kitchen, dining and living area. With lovely views of the water and mountains, the cabin is ideal for couples or a family gathering. A hot tub, pool table, backgammon and other games, internet and cable TV are all provided.
Additionally, golf, skiing and extensive mountain hikes are all at hand. The towns of North Conway, Bridgton, Fryeburg and Bethel are short excursions offering skiing, shopping, theaters and restaurants. We are only one hour from Portland and less than three hours from Boston. This idyllic Maine experience beckons!
My family of six adults recently spent a week at this pond side cabin nestled in the Maine woods. To say this was a wonderful vacation is a gross understatement. The setting and accommodations were just what we needed to relax and reset.
The cabin is large enough to spread out and feel comfortable, and is stocked well enough so that leaving the site is really not necessary. We kayaked, swam, fished, catching several nice sized bass, hiked, played pool and ping pong, and of course relaxed in the hot tub. There is a beautiful, albeit buggy, bog, great for moose watching, within walking distance of cabin. We saw a bald eagle, mergansers, a mink and heard the haunting call of the loons. Unfortunately , no moose! Just peace and quiet.
I would highly recommend the cabin for a family get away in any season, especially the summer and fall. Located close to the Fryeburg fairgrounds and busy North Conway, it's a great place to use as a base camp.
We are already talking about next summer's vacation and looking forward to renting again. It is truly a lovely and special place. Thank you again Leslie.
With fond memories and warm regards, Michael and Mary and family
I had no problem with the tap water while staying at this beautiful vacation home....owners were more than helpful in making all arrangements --no pet policy added to the peace and quiet of our stay...hope to return again to this ideal location
My extended family spent two weeks at this home on Farrington Pond. Farrington is a beautiful, quiet, shallow pond (average depth is just 8 feet) with loons, and mountain views. No noise, no waterskiers, just solitude and sylvan splendor. Even on a perfect summer Saturday afternoon the only watercraft on the entire pond was a single canoeist. The home is large, tastefully decorated in appropriate lake house style, and comfortable. Be sure to bring in your own drinking and cooking water as the tap water has a variable scent of sulphur or some other minerals. We did not drink this water or cook with it. It's fine for washing. The fire ring and rustic Adirondack chairs by the water's edge were very popular day and night as there is no sandy beach but rather an excellent dock with ladder and swim raft just beyond the dock. Kayaking and canoeing are great. The sunsets are typically stunning. If you don't want jetskis and waterskiers howling across your canoe's bow, stay away from Kezar Lake. Stay instead on the little-known jewel, 89-acre Farrington Pond. We had to leave our dogs at home as they are not allowed at this property. That was the only major disappointment which kept some family members from staying longer at the lake house on Farrington Pond.
We had a wonderfull stay at Farrington Pound. We were 6 adults and 3 children and everybody simply loved the place. Just as an example of the "magic touch" of the cabin and the surrondings : we expected that the children would ask to go to the beach at least one day or two... but they never did ! They were simply happy where they were... And the adults as well. A beautifull lake, a forest all around you, a welcomming cabin with everything you need, no immediate neighbors : what else to ask for ?
We recommend that place to anyone wanting plenty of simming, of canoeing and kayaking, of fishing and, most of all, of quiet and peace.
This house was everything it said in the listing and much more. We were there with a group of adults and children and it was perfect for everyone. The house is huge, with plenty of room to spread out. The firepit by the lake is great, and the dock and swim float provided hours of entertainment. Huge, airy windows allowed a great cross breeze, and everything was in perfect/like new condition. Really cant say enough about the home or its owners- we'll definitely be back! Finally, Ebenezer's Pub very close by is one of the best beer bars in america (really)- needs to be experienced!
It's hard to know what exactly a cabin like this will "feel" like until you are there, and my guests and I were blown away when we arrived!
First, the drive North was really pleasant and the general area of the cabin is perfect: a pretty, small town that has more than enough to do (though there really isn't a need to leave the property!) and stores for supplies.
The property, while a 15min drive to town, was in a much more private location than I expected - a great surprise! The site is well maintained and had everything we needed, from chairs to canoes to grilling supplies. And, of course, it sits right on a really pretty, serene lake. Both the private boat dock and diving dock were well built and maintained, and they made for wonderful places to sit and watch the fish rise and the sun set. After dark, the lakeside fire pit created hours of great conversation and peaceful reflection.
The cabin itself went so far beyond my expectations that I was shocked it was a rental property. Very well built, super-well maintained, with modern appliances and a rustic feel. The kitchen was better than my kitchen at home, the beds softer, the master bedroom more luxurious, and the open, beam-strung ceilings made it difficult to leave the cabin for the lake. The pool table, fireplace, and sheltered, outdoor hot tub (with panoramic lake view!) made us almost happy it rained the first day.
I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for something a bit nicer and more "domestic" than the typical Maine camp, without sacrificing the sense of privacy or interaction with the outdoors. It's perfect for a group of friends, a family, or a couple (though it will feel very large with just two people). The property isn't as secluded as other places I've stayed in Maine, but for its easy-to-access location within 3hrs of Boston, its proximity to a nice town, and its luxuriously comfortable cabin, I can't imagine anyone wanting more.
