South Ocean Villas is located approximately 3.5 miles from Bridgetown, Barbados (5 mins drive) and about a 15 minute drive from the Grantley Adams International Airport. Modern Mini malls, Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Entertainment, Watersports, Museums and Art Galleries are all within either short walking distance or 2-5 minute drive.
With over 70 miles of white sandy beaches and verdant tropical landscapes, Barbados is truly an island paradise. Its sheer unspoiled beauty is also matched by it continuing to be one of the safest islands in the Caribbean. From this location you can walk to the historic Garrison area where we have horse racing most Saturday's in the season, this area also has historic homes and is a Unesco World Heritage Site, the Barbados Yacht Club and The Cruising Club are both located in Carlisle Bay with exception swimming in this area. In the other direction is St. Lawrence Gap and popular tourist hub offering many restaurants, hotels and bars and nightclubs. You will not be bored. Bridgetown, the capital is approx. 5 minutes by car, this picturesque town offers historic 375 year old Parliament Buildings and a careenage. Sit at the Waterfront Cafe here and enjoy the view and bustle of our little city. There are several golf courses on the island, two on the west coast at Sandy Lane and Westmoreland, two on the south coast, Rockley and Barbados Golf Club. The island has a plethora of live music, particularly on weekends when you will have difficulty deciding which place to attend. Or head to the rustic and windswept east coast to get away from it all, a fun and scenic drive, stop in Bathsheba down the hill from Round House and sit in a natural rock pool at low tide, you will think you went to heaven, pounding waves behind you, you will be protected by the reefs, and views all the way down the coast, this is very special. Take you drinks and set them on the reeef behind you, it does not get better than this. If you want to experience what plantation life was like in a bygone era, make a reservation at Fisher Pond Plantation for their Sunday buffett, dine in the plantation house and dine like a Plantation owner on our local food (this is inside inforormation), set in a beautiful garden with flowers everywhere, you will not want to leave. Barbados has some of the top restaurants in the Caribbean from fine dining to casual roadside food, don't worry about eating from the roadside vendors, Bajans (Barbadian's for short) are notoriously very hygenic. For the sports minded there is deep sea fishing, surfing, horse polo, zip lining, golf, tennis, diving, are you tired yet? For the fashionistas, lots of shopping, Lime Grove on the west coast boasts the high end stores of Louis Vuitton, Boss, Cartier and lots of private boutiques, a great bar offering live entertainment. There are other boutiques dotted along both coasts. For the adventurous, head into the back street of Bridgetown called Swan Street, here you wil find bargais galore, a really busy street with store after store and vendors everywhere. Oistins, home of the famous Friday Night Fish Fry is not far from the condo, a great night out with music and food and a great mix of locals and tourists.
