Thank you for taking the time to learn about our beautiful vacation rental. We moved to Hood River in September of 2011 not sure how long we were going to stay, or where we would live. After three years of traveling for our careers, we decided it was time to be in one place for a while. We found this home and couldn’t resist the opportunity to create a welcoming place for visitors to the Gorge.
Both of us have had the opportunity to travel around the world. For Dave, the US Navy gave him the chance to experience new cultures while serving our country. After ten years as a Helicopter Crew Chief, he decided it was time for a change of pace. Taking a position with Insitu has allowed him to continue to work within the military sector while giving us the flexibility to live anywhere in the world. For me, after more than six years directing the sales and marketing for my families winery in Sonoma, it was time to move on. Armed with an education in business and fashion design and ten years in branding, sales and marketing, I took the move to Hood River as an opportunity to find a new challenge. Today, I put my experience to work in a number of ways: WineDTC Expert Consultant, Business Development Advisor, the Style Blogger for La Crema Winery, managing our investment properties and selling my small line of women’s wear.
This was a distressed property that we purchased at an auction. It is in a fabulous neighborhood close to downtown, but needed some major TLC. It was just the kind of challenge that we crave.
Today, the house boasts brand new kitchen appliances, new ventless hypo-allergenic HVAC, new paint, new landscaping, new fireplace and our personal touches in every room. Our goal was to create a home away from home for our guests. After traveling the world and experiencing all manner of accommodations, we knew our vacation rental had to give added value without added cost. The little things that count, such as pill-top and memory foam mattresses, plush bedding and a kitchen equipped for an almost professional chef are just some of the perks of staying with us.
We spent a lot of time planning for a family gathering for the Thanksgiving holiday, and I'm so happy we picked the Hood River Villa. The house is beautiful and when we arrived it was sparkling clean. The view is lovely, the beds were comfortable (nice linens!) and the kitchen was fantastic. There were nine of us, and we loved having plenty of cozy places to gather. It's not obvious from the photos, but the kitchen opens up to the dining room and has a breakfast bar and a smaller flat screen TV, which allowed people to gather close to the kitchen while we prepared our turkey feast in a very well-stocked kitchen. The media room on the ground floor is something else--perfect for movie night! Just a note: if you have more than 4 couples, the extra person or people will be sleeping on a queen-sized inflatable bed, but it was a top-of-the-line version, with an easy push-button system. Full Sail Brewing is walkable, and there is lots of hiking nearby. We'd recommend the Mosier Twin Tunnels hike for families--it's just a few miles from the house, and it's a paved trail with great views, making it an accessible option for varying levels of fitness. Samantha was friendly and answered all of our questions in a timely manner, both before and during our stay. We'd stay here again, without a doubt.
The Hood River Villa was wonderful for our family's gathering! As we celebrated our son's wedding, the home provided us plenty of space for 9 of us to gather and to have our own spaces for 'down time'. The air conditioning was wonderful as we enjoyed a hot Hood river summer weekend.
Six of us shared the Villa and it was perfect. The home was spacious and the kitchen was well-appointed. It was bright and airy throughout and let's face it, the master bedroom on the top floor is a sanctuary, complete with a view of Mt. Adams. The beds were very comfortable especially after 30 miles of mountain biking the amazing Hood River trails. An easy 10 minute walk downtown took us to a fun wine tasting at Naked Winery and in just minutes we were able to drive down to the Columbia River for paddleboarding. We loved gathering at the long dining room table and spent hours there laughing and catching up. Communication with the owner was seamless. We highly recommend staying here if you're lucky enough to visit all Hood River has to offer!
Great space for cooking, talking and relaxing.
Do not hesitate to book this amazing property! We stayed for 5 nights in June and I could not be more impressed with this beautiful property. The location is quiet and charming, but very close to the little town of Hood River and a convenient shopping center with Safeway and RiteAid. We stayed here to visit the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood, the Fruit Loop and it is a pleasant and scenic drive to all those areas and about 1 hour from Portland.
The house was built and furnished with very high end appliances, furnishings, linens, etc. We enjoyed the whole house sound system, home theater and other luxurious amenities. Much better stay than at a five start hotel! The house is immaculate! Unlike some rental properties, it does not have someone's personal items in the house. This property seems to be for rental only. There's a ton of storage, with a large walk in closet in the master bedroom. Every detail to comfort has been seen to. We had plush towel sets placed on the beds of each bedroom like a luxury boutique hotel. The decor is whimsical and tasteful. The kitchen is spacious with every thing you would need. There's a grill on the deck.
The house far surpassed my expectations and I don't know if there's a better property in Hood River. This is a great choice for a family vacation. Each bedroom is large and beautiful. There's space for everyone to spread out after long days in the car together. I am very picky about my lodgings and usually stay at high end resorts and hotels. Hood River Villa is one of the best and probably the most comfortable place I've stayed. Very professionally managed. Kudos to the owner. Thank you for a fabulous time!
Perfect long weekend getaway for 6 women. Clean, comfortable and spacious. Beautiful décor. Kitchen is large and well equipped. The lovely wine glasses came in handy. Quick walk to downtown. Good communication with owners. We would definitely love to come back.
Hood River is the ideal jumping point to take in the Columbia Gorge. Outdoor activities abound here with wind surfing, skiing, hiking, biking and more. Being within an easy waking distance to downtown, you can get the best of nature and a quant downtown with great restaurants, bars and shopping. Perfect for the whole family!
