Overview

Lucca Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Luxury apartment within the walls: 3 double rooms with 3 bathrooms. Free Wi-fi.

This beautifully decorated self-catering apartment is situated in the centre of Lucca, easy reachable from the train station in a 5 min. walk and through the eastern access Porta Elisa if you're driving (parking is a few steps from the accommodation). It is on the second floor of a very well preserved noble building (Palazzo Froussard-Matteucci) dating back to the early XIXth century and shows the present owners' elegant taste and respect for Tuscan tradition updated to a fresh and modern style.

The entrance opens into a bright and cozy living room with comfortable sofa and armchairs and a big flat screen tv.

The modern kitchen is well appointed with oven, microwave, dishwasher, spacious fridge, washing machine and a sitting area comes with table and six chairs. Comfort and privacy are guaranteed for a family or for a group of friends up to six people, since you will be accommodated in three spacious bedrooms: the yellow double room, the red double room (twin bedded, but it is possible to set it as double) and the blue double room.

All three rooms are bright and decorated with care, beds are big and comfortable and have huge wardrobes and armchairs and writing corners. The three bathrooms have showers (two of them are en suite, one is external but just next door with its bedroom).

Typically decorated ceramic tiles enrich the apartment's floors and furniture and decor have been accurately chosen to preserve a classical taste yet creating a fresh, cozy atmosphere.

The palace is located on a wide sunny street leading to the famous promenade on the Walls with a few steps. Restaurants and cafes are all around together with local shops for our Kind Guests to feel the Lucchesian life-style during their stay.

The weekly market takes place close by on Wed and Sat mornings.

I will be pleased to welcome you Kind Guests and introduce you to Lucca by providing city maps and helpful brochures and, most important, all kinds of tips a local person can offer to help You enjoying at best this charming town and its really beautiful surroundings!

Why Roberto chose Lucca

The apartment is close to one of the ramps leading to the famous Walls, so just a few steps and you can take your daily promenade on this unique place. Nevertheless, being Lucca city centre a restricted traffic area, I choose an accommodation with very easy access by car and parking facilities, something driving visitors would surely appreciate.

What makes this apartment unique

This apartment is hosted in a XIXth century noble building called Palazzo Froussard because of its former French owner. Therefore its floor design, its high ceilings and very huge windows allow all the rooms to be bright and fresh with a sophisticated allure. It is spacious so it has been a long but satisfying work to renew it all in order to obtain en suite bathrooms and appoint it with modern comforts without loosing its historical character.

This is a lovely apartment in a prime location

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at this very well appointed apartment. The convienience of three bedrooms, each with it's own bathroom was excellent. The only potential issue is that it is on a road and can have some nosie at night, if you have the window open. It is walking distance to everything you need.

Charming and spacious apartment

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we made contact with the property manager, we received great service and information about this apartment. Our experience surpassed our expectations: the apartment has been beautifully renovated and is very spacious, with 3 large bedrooms, all with large windows and ensuites, living room and eat in modern kitchen. Just right for our family of 4, but comfortable for 6 too. We were lucky enough to meet the lovely owner who was in town who helped us with our luggage. Important to know that the apartment is on the top floor with 3 flights of stairs, with no elevator. However the the corner position meant there was lots of light and privacy. The location is perfect...just inside the town walls, near a reasonably priced parking garage and walking distance to the centre of town and great supermarkets. We were worried about having to pay in full for 4 days stay before arrival, but everything went smoothly and it was well worth it.

Really good apartment in an excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We are so pleased we chose this lovely apartment nestled in an historical Palazzo. We had a wonderful warm welcome from Francesco. It's in a wonderful location, a good size, very clean, pretty and with a beautiful view. We enjoyed the 3 charming bedrooms with the 3 ensuite bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable and the linen was of a very good quality.

Francesco met us on arrival and gave us a really good outline of the best places to shop, eat and some sightseeing ideas. He also helped us book a taxi for the opera at Torre Del Lago and he helped us with our luggage. He could not have been more helpful! Lucca is lovely - with loads of restaurants, bars, cafes and the music festival in July meant it was lively every night. My favourite bar was Caffe Turandot in one of the main squares - but there are simply loads to choose from! Lucca is also perfectly situated for visiting all the other places around - Florence, Pisa, Sienna, etc.

Around the corner is a bakey, there is little shop selling cheese, water and wine. Palazzo Froussard is located in a really good location in the heart of the city centre.

We recommend you hire bicycles and ride around the wall. We also found a busy and very reasonably priced local restaurant, 5 minute walk, Trattoria da Leo, near Piazza Del Salvatore with plenty of atmosphere. We found Lucca to be one of the nicest places we have visited in Italy and we have been to quite a few cities. It is very clean and hospitable. We hope to return one day and would once again stay in this super apartment. I cannot recommend Lucca enough, and I would love to go back, and I'd book Francesco once again without hesitation. Thank you Francesco.

Of Roman origins, with great medieval and renaissance churches and palaces, Lucca had been the second largest Italian city state (after Venice) with a republican constitution ('comune') to remain independent over the centuries.

In 1805, Lucca was conquered by Napoleon, who installed his sister Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi as 'Queen of Etruria'.

After 1815 Lucca became a Bourbon-Parma duchy, then part of Tuscany in 1847 and finally part of the Italian State.

The walls around the old town remained intact as the city expanded and modernized, which is unusual for other cities in Tuscany. As the walls lost their military importance, they became a pedestrian promenade which encircled the old town. They are still fully intact today; each of the four principal sides is lined with a different tree species.

Composer Giacomo Puccini's Birth-House is nowadays a small yet very interesting museum, located 10 min. walk from the accommodation.

Short concerts dedicated to Puccini take place every evening at 7pm in one of Lucca's main churches.

At the nearby town of Torre del Lago, the famous Puccini Festival takes place every year in July/August.
