May 20-23 at Off Season Rates!

This spacious 3 bedroom/2 bath architectural home and guest house compound is the ultimate Venice hideaway. If the main house is booked on the calendar, the guest house may be available. Please inquire.

Located in the heart of Venice, on a quiet tree-lined street, the famous Abbot Kinney and Marina are just steps away. Designed by noted architect, John Porter, with vaulted wood ceilings and plenty of skylights, it’s bright and airy, and totally relaxing… In one of the best areas in Los Angeles, California, it's no wonder renowned architect, Frank Gehry, has chosen to build his own home right down the street! Stop by the French Market Cafe for coffee & croissants, then stroll 15-20 minutes through the scenic canals to the beach. (Or bike to the beach in about 7 minutes on one of our 2 new bikes for guests.)

The house has a fully equipped kitchen that opens to a private deck, perfect for a BBQ and al fresco dining. Set in tropical gardens with mature palms, and giant birds of paradise, the deck is a tranquil setting. Indoors, you can cuddle around the cozy fireplace. Sit under the orange tree in the tropical garden and, great for a picnic or sitting by the fire pit.

In the Main House, each of the three bedrooms sleeps two; 2 queen beds and 2 twins that can made up as a king or as two singles. There is also a trundle day bed upstairs, a queen aerobed or couch available to sleep up to a total of 11 guests.

Many say this is their favorite place; we have lots of repeat guests!

AMENITIES

Amenities include: free wireless internet, off street parking, tropical gardens, firepit, BBQ, fireplace, plasma TV, cable, DVD, washer/dryer, a large deck, and an espresso machine! Linens and towels are provided. And we now have two bikes for guests!

Charming Place!

4 of 5
Submitted: October 27, 2012 Stayed: October 2012
The house was charming and very clean. I was staying with my parents and brother who were visiting Los Angeles for a family wedding from overseas. Being walking distance from Abbot Kinney was very convenient, which has the great Intelligentsia coffee not to mention lots of good food and fun shops to browse. 10 min tops to the airport was a big perk. Venice beach was a long walk and not worth it, a really cheesy and trashy part of the beach. Santa Monica is better and Malibu is breathtaking. Fortunately Santa Monica was only a 5 minute drive and we really enjoyed eating at The Lobster by Santa Monica pier. I live in Echo Park and because of the distance I probably would stay in Malibu to be by a better part of the beach but I would be happy to recommend to a friend or family member.
Owner's Response: Thanks for your compliments! A word about Venice Beach: it's not like Malibu or Hawaii, but it's a unique and fun part of Venice; street performers, shops, roller bladers, artists, Muscle Beach, a stimulating scene...and you can see cutting edge architecture all around on the way there, especially if you go through the canals. You can go out and experience the Venice Beach scene, then come back to the serenity of the house on a quiet little one way street and relax.

Beautiful home, great location, terrific owner

Submitted: July 31, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
I stayed at this wonderful home for three nights in July with a group of friends.
The home is beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed. It gets a lot of natural light and, with the doors open, usually has a nice breeze to regulate the temperature. It had all the amenities we needed for our stay, and everything worked as expected.
This house is easily accessible by foot to the happening stretch of Abbott Kinney, the canals, the beach, and the area where Washington runs into the beach. All are a pleasant 10-20 minute walk, or a short drive/taxi of about a mile.
Lastly, Jane is a fantastic owner who is responsive, accommodating and understanding.
I hope to stay here again someday!

Loved it.

The property itself is great - clean, well maintained and equipped, had everything we needed including free wireless internet. Jane, the owner was fantastic. So helpful and always available to answer any queries, getting back to you promptly both throughout the booking process and also once we arrived. Everything was easy, nothing was a problem and the location suited us perfectly, a nice quiet neighbourhood but only five minutes walk from the shops, the restaurants and of course the beach and the boulevarde.

(Small tip for Australians and anyone else who's into real coffee...the best "proper" coffee we found was at Groundworks - there's one on Westminster down by the beach and another one up at Santa Monica food market. They serve good strong coffee from clean espresso machines. As opposed to that hot milky brown stuff they pass off as cappuccinos or lattes at most of the popular American coffee chains.

Sarah and I would love to come again sometime as a special treat. Your loft is beautiful - so spacious and comfortable. It's a real home and we appreciated having all the little extras. It was great to use the bikes to cruise to the pier and the beach. Your street is sheltered and peaceful. The neighbours are smiling and friendly. You have a vast and varied CD and book collection. It really is an oasis. We'll tell our friends.

Venice Beach getaway

5 of 5
Submitted: September 4, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
I had a group of 12 people that stayed within the main house and the guesthouse in July this year and must say that we had an absolutely amazing time.

The house was great with the kitchen and 3 bedrooms all being quite large. The key for us was the outside decking that connected the main house to the guest house. Not only was this area great for sitting outside and entertaining, it was a great little area to enjoy the summer nights especially with the BBQ.

Jane was absolutely amazing and had everything ready for us as soon as we arrived and ensured that everything was set up with minimum fuss which allowed for our time in the house be completely stress free and enjoyable.

I would recommend the property to small groups, large groups up to 12 people and families all the same. It's a great location, beautiful house and I would have no hesitation staying here again the next time that I'm in LA.
