Let Casa Sueno be your Dream House during your special getaway to Culebra, the smallest of the Spanish Virgin Islands.
This custom designed and furnished modern home is one of a handful of exclusive high-end rental properties available on the island. It is beautifully situated to enjoy the cool breezes and magnificent Culebra rainbows while giving you stunning views of one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean from nearly a thousand square feet of covered veranda offering chaise lounges and a hammock. Casa Sueno is furnished with one-of-a-kind Latin American antiques and hand-crafted hardwood furniture designed for the home by Puerto Rico’s top wood craftsman.
The master suite (which has a Queen bed) provides a breathtaking view of the ocean from the moment you wake up. The master bathroom is unlike any other. The shower overlooks the bay and a private patio and garden. Open the floor-to-ceiling glass doors of the shower and enjoy the island breeze as warm water flows over you.
The great room of the main building is anchored by a fully equipped modern kitchen and bar seating around the cooking island, all overlooking the water and comfortable dining room and living room seating. Two plush full-size futons provide wonderful afternoon nap sites or can comfortably function as beds.
The second building offers two more bedrooms, a full-size bed in one and two twins in the other, which share a nicely-appointed bathroom. Laundry facilities are available for rentals of a week and longer.
Between the two buildings is a peaceful and beautifully landscaped enclosed courtyard, complete with a tropical water feature, designed and crafted by one of Puerto Rico's finest landscape architects. A courtyard bar area opens from the kitchen, allowing people in the kitchen to chat comfortably with those enjoying the serenity of the garden.
In the parking area is an outside shower, which allows you to rinse off before entering the home. Adjacent is a fish-cleaning station for anglers who have caught dinner.
Throughout Casa Sueno, imported Italian and Latin American ceramic tiles grace the floors and the bathrooms. Designer lighting, inside and out, along with unique fans in every room complete the picture of a comfortable island retreat. Beach chairs, coolers and beach towels help make visits to nearby beaches complete. A private dock owned by area property owners is minutes away and provides a delightful venue for sunset cocktails as well as dockage for Casa Sueno’s guests with boats.
The house is equipped with wireless high-speed satellite internet service, satellite television, a hardline phone (a calling card is needed for long distance calls) and a new generator that automatically engages if island power is lost, ensuring a comfortable stay. All three bedrooms have air conditioners, though they are rarely needed given Casa Sueno’s location on top of a hill, which guarantees delightful breezes coming through the home from any direction. A gate at the bottom of the driveway promises absolute privacy.
This exclusive property is just two or three minutes from Zoni Beach, one of Culebra’s favorite spots and less than ten minutes - primarily through bird sanctuaries – from town and from famous Playa Flamenco.
Casa Sueno is the ideal location for couples looking for a quiet secluded spot and luxury, as well as for families who desire space and comfort. Three couples would also be quite comfortable.

Owner/Manager Bonnie M. Anderson purchased this house in 2002
I bought these six acres in 1997 and then designed and built the home in 2002. This was my fulltime home for four years... my Dream House, Casa Sueno.
Privacy... six acres, overlooking a beatiful bay. Great location, luxury surroundings....
I have been coming to Culebra every year since 2009 but this was my first time at Casa Sueno, and my first time staying on that side of the island. Bonnie responded quickly to my inquiries on line. As promised, we were met at the airport and showed to the house which sits on a steep hill with dramatic views of the surrounding hills and bay.
The house was impeccable, and the descriptions I read on the website matched reality. There were six of us and we never got into each other's way. The house is very open and breezy, with a large terrace that runs along one side (and where we spent most of our time while at the house!) The spacious living room, dining room, and kitchen all open to one another. The kitchen was well appointed with all the necessary utensils and equipment. The dining room table comfortably sat six, and the two living room couches (doubled as futons) were large and comfortable. A small hall led to a powder room and on to the large and well-appointed master bedroom and bathroom. The latter was especially enjoyable since it opened up onto the deck (but with total privacy!) with dramatic views of the bay and hills.
Across a pebbled courtyard was a guest house with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom, all of which were tastefully furnished with care. The courtyard had a grill (which we did not use). There were 5 beach chairs and plenty of beach towels for our use.
The house obviously reflects the owner's refined taste in furniture and interior design and I felt like I was staying in a real house as opposed to a cookie-cutter rental.
Those who come to Culebra enjoy its remoteness and low key activities: snorkeling, swimming, boating and casual dining. There are no fancy resorts or cruise ships here.
The house is conveniently located: just a few minutes from Zoni Beach, and a 10 to 15 minute drive to Flamenco Beach, Brava Beach and Dewey, the main town on Culebra, where the main restaurants and food stores are located. If you make a left from the house and walk about 30 minutes you will reach Playa Larga, at the eastern end of the island, with views of St. Thomas in the distance.
One day we rented a boat from the most excellent Captain Sebastian and spent some time in Culebrita island, hiking to the lighthouse and snorkeling among the turtles.
All in all, a most enjoyable vacation and stay at Casa Sueno. We will recommend this house to all our friends and family. It really was a "dream" house!
Good morning, Bonnie. I just wanted to write and to thank you for a spectacular vacation at Casa Sueno.
Your home is beautiful, and Carissa is warm, polite, and attentive.
My husband and I kept speculating whether or not we were like an episode of "Lost" because we thought we may have died in a crash on the plane and gone to heaven without knowing it. My favorite feature of the house was the way it opened almost completely to the outdoors. The island breezes and the view were incredible, and the total privacy was blissful. Oh, and I certainly don't want to forget to mention that the decor and the furnishings were sophisticated yet comfortable and inviting.
We never wanted to leave, but alas, we had to return home to the four-degree temperatures that awaited us.
Thanks again for a memorable week. We are looking forward to returning with our two teenagers sometime in the near future.
My wife and I stayed at this beautiful villa for a week and enjoyed every minute of our stay. This was our first visit to Culebra, and we could not be happier with the villa, it's location, the comfort and quality of the furnishings, and the responsive service from both the owner, Bonnie, and the property manager, Carissa. The villa itself is much nicer than the photos portray. It sits high on a hill overlooking a lovely bay and the ocean. There are few houses nearby; the trade winds create a gentle breeze that flows all day long; and sunrise on the front porch is stunning! The overall layout of the house is perfect...a large great room with a nicely furnished kitchen, comfortable seating inside and out on the front porch, a very private bedroom (with A/C) and master bath. The house also came with a gas grille, new beach chairs, plenty of towels, and a cooler. All you need is your bathing suit. Culebra is a very friendly, low key island, almost like it's in a time warp. We felt safe at all times, anywhere we went. As others have mentioned, beautiful and deserted Zoni beach is a 5 minute drive. The town of Dewey and Flamenco beach are 15 mins away. You definitely need a Jeep to get around. There are several small grocery stores (colmados) on the island, however, Colmado Milkas was our favorite. It's tiny, but packed with all the essentials, plus fresh produce and an excellent butcher shop. There's a limited supply of restaurants on Culebra, and by far, our best meals were the ones my wife prepared at the villa, and we ate looking out at the finest view in town!
The top ten best things about our stay (in no particular order)
1. The breeze through the house.
2. The view from the veranda.
3. The hills, which provided great exercise on walks.
4. Proximity to Zoni Beach
5. Zoni Beach, where the water is clear and warm and the sand is pristine.
6. Snorkeling with sea turtles.
7. Snorkeling at Flamenco Beach.
8. Carissa the house manager, who was very attentive.
9. The shower in the master bathroom.
We spent most of the week lounging around our beautiful villa, enjoying the cooling breezes and the gorgeous view of Manglar Bay. We had breakfast and dinner on the veranda every day listening to the birds and gazing at the sailboats. This place is stunning! All the windows and glass doors and being surrounded by nature give one the feeling of being in paradise. This is a luxury home with gorgeous furnishings and interior design. My husband and I enjoyed our daily walks along the dirt road at the bottom of the driveway which lead to one of many beautiful beaches on the island. The bed was ultra comfortable with a billowy comforter and lots of cozy pillows. We loved the big kitchen and dining area as we ate in all meals. Everything was immaculate and the home fairly well-maintained The location is prime- secluded but centrally located. Bonnie, the owner, was very helpful, warm and welcoming. Basically we tore ourselves away from our beautiful abode early afternoon, took the jeep to Flamenco Beach for a couple of hours, stopped at the grocery store, and happily returned "home" around 5:00 PM to start dinner every day . It was simply peaceful & relaxing! Thank you so much Bonnie. We would definitely recommend Dream House to friends and relatives.
Wow – this place is spectacular! We stayed at Casa Sueno (Dream House) for my sister’s destination wedding. Everything about Culebra and this house is amazing. The pictures do not do this place justice!
The main building is enough room for a family of 4+. The other 2 bedrooms in the second building give everyone plenty of privacy and space. Speaking of privacy – this house is far off the beaten path – we barely saw anyone the entire week.
The property manager met us at the airport to guide us to the house. The house was spotless and ready to go. The ocean breeze keeps the AC off and the doors and windows open. As the other reviewers state, the secluded Zoni beach is right down the road. The remote Playa Larga beach is also a short drive.
We snorkeled and beachcombed at nearly all the beaches of Culebra. There are a few beaches that are hike-to that we missed due to children and seniors along, but still plenty of drive-to beaches to enjoy. Amazing sea-life at every beach!
We had plenty of family visit us at the house and golf carts made it there just fine; I don’t think you need a jeep to get here.
You will easily fall asleep in the veranda hammock; so relaxing and the fresh air will help charge your batteries!
Nothing bad to say about this property... The icemaker in the fridge even kept up to provide icewater and coolers for the beach daytrips. Also impressed with the amount of kitchen supplies that were included.
Stay here ASAP!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful house Bonnie!
Zoni Beach, which is about a mile away from my house, is where Leatherback turtles nest in great number every year. Depending on when guests are on island, you can see new nests OR, if you get up very early, you might catch some baby turtles making their way to the sea. Look but don't touch! They are protected.
