We spent January and the beginning of February in this holiday home. It proved to be a great choice. It was excellent value, proving as cheap as spending the same period on a Costa Blanca campsite in our motorhome.....as we normally do! We would definitely do this again. The weather was a delight for January....and we spent time on the sundeck most days. You will need warmer clothing for evenings etc. The house was well stocked and comfortable enough. (Spanish style holiday homes with hard surfaces everywhere are designed to be cool in summer but in winter you will need to use the heaters provided at times.) We particularly enjoyed the bonus of having wifi access. We were warned not to use it for downloading films etc which made me anxious because I was worried that I would use too much of the monthly allowance and lose access. However it was a super service for me and I used it daily for web browsing and for SKYPE video calls to family on several occasions with no problems at all.
We found the location to be excellent for us. Some of the places we have stayed on this Costa during our previous winter breaks have been very very quiet. I guess there were approximately 1 in every 6-8 holiday homes in use here which sounds deserted but it was actually a lot livelier than we have previously experienced. It seemed that the majority of outlets stayed open year round in this area, even though they were not busy. Orihuela Costa has an array of small bays to explore,and there were numerous local centres with collections of good value eateries. A good sized Carrefour is within walking distance and Macdonalds too if that's your desire! A spit roast chicken from the Playa Flamenca Saturday market is a favourite of ours.
We enjoy walking so didnt explore too far, but the view from Alicante castle is well worth seeing. Driving is easy and parking in january is a doddle! Cartagena and the Mar Menor were also good visits.
