When you're ready to unwind after a day of exploring, you will look forward to coming back to this beautiful and quiet retreat. Our home has been renovated inside and out in 2011 while converting the entire 40 ft wide lower level into a legal rental dwelling. It offers modern and warm, tropical style amenities. Opening onto a huge sunny patio and covered lanai, overlooking palm trees, banana and canna, it sets against 100+ ft towering pine, fir and maple trees. Some of the trees are lit at night to extend our evenings. Sometimes you catch a glimpse of a doe and her fawns out in the woods. Many bird species are attracted to the sound of our bubbling water feature. After fall season, you can see the twinkling lights of the town at night through the trees.
Just 20 minutes to downtown Portland, the zoo, theaters, museums. There are dozens of restaurants, brew pubs, shopping centers and movie theaters within a mile away yet we are right on the edge of the urban boundary. It's a suburban city sitting right next to the country. The gateway to Oregon wine country. We enjoy shopping for fresh local fruits, vegetables, cheeses and anything Oregon. The berry farm down the road offers a different variety each month in the summer. The Farmer's markets nearby offer many local choices for us too.
The 100+ wineries dot the landscape throughout the Willamette Valley and start just down the road, 10 minutes away. You drive through lovely wine country to access the north Oregon Coast 1 ½ hour away. Timberline lodge and skiing on Mt. Hood, a 1½ hour drive. The Columbia River Gorge and many waterfalls, 45 min. Portland International Airport is very convenient, a 35-40 minute drive.
