Slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent nearly a week at this amazing cabin for our 10-year anniversary. We can't say enough about this home, this region and the kind locals who live and work around the area. The cabin itself is beautiful and well designed and decorated. The paintings are truly lovely and I found myself getting lost in them. The location this cabin is perched upon is breathtaking. We spent hours on the deck in the rocking chairs admiring the valley during the day with a book and a coffee, and a starry night accompanied by the symphony of the forest with a glass of wine. The owners shared their favorite swimming and waterfall spots with us as well as places to dine. We fell in love with each one. The canyon is just ripe with adventure and beauty. My husband personally loved driving the Lookout scenic route as well as Martha's Fall cliff jumping. The home is not only beautiful but also comfortable and cozy and incredibly clean. We are from the deep South and love to cook and found the kitchen wonderfully equipped. This cabin met and exceeded all of our needs and desires. We can't wait to go back with family and see the valley in the Fall. I can only imagine the beauty of the changing of the leaves.

Thank you so much to the owners for such an incredible vacation spot and wonderful amenities and personal advice of the area.

Family Gathering in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time at our family birthday party at this lovely Mountain home, very comfortable for the 6 of us and our two dogs. The house was fantastic and very spacious. It allowed us to enjoy our time with family but also enjoyed the sitting room upstairs for some quite alone reading time.

The photos represented the location well. Having the fenced yard and enclosed deck made it easy to bring our two dogs with us. The property was clean as very well maintained.

The views from the deck of the mountain valley was awesome. We took a nice drive to the falls along Little River Canyon.

Some reviews mentioned the dirt and gravel road was difficult on cars. It rained while we were there and our car was adequate for the dirt and gavel road.

We would definitely come to the house again.

Owner's Response: Thanks Larry for choosing our home for your family celebration! We appreciate how well you took care of our house, and agree that the fenced in area gives the dogs a large area in which to play. The road is a bit bumpy, but no worse than any other country gravel road. We look forward to seeing you there again! Greg and Gina

This is our second trip to this lovely vacation home. It was beautiful when we came before but even more so since it has been redecorated. It has such charm. It was perfect for our sister trip. The new furnishing are so nice! Gina's artwork throughout the house is totally awesome. We had a fantastic time! The view is incredible! We loved the front porch and the new plantings. Each room is so well decorated with such detail. Every room has its own lovely decor. We love the antiques throughout the house. We enjoyed the deck with the cozy covered sitting area. The kitchen is so well equipped. We definitely plan to return next year!

Perfect Family Vacation Home in a Beautiful Natural Setting!

  • 5 of 5
My family just returned from an amazing week here and really enjoyed our stay at Greg & Gina's home. We had a total of 6 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs and we very comfortable in this house.

The house is beautifully decorated; rustic with lots of interesting antiques. Gina's artwork added a personal touch to the space. I absolutely fell in love with the master bathroom, the dark wood on the ceiling and the beautiful chandelier are beautiful. The beds/pillows were so comfortable that even though I brought my own pillow, I chose to sleep on the ones that were already there.

Greg & Gina were very helpful...they provided recommendations of places to visit and were available by phone or text for any questions that came up during our stay.

We spent every morning enjoying our coffee on the back deck watching the sunrise and the clouds lift over Shinbone Valley. In the evenings, we ate dinner on the back deck and enjoyed a few drinks around the fire pit.
Our days were spent exploring the beautiful nature of this area - Little River Canyon, swimming holes at Eberhart point and at the mouth of the Canyon, and Cherokee Rock Village were some of our favorites. We also went to Desoto Falls and drove to Chattanooga, TN one day and visited Rock City...but after the natural settings we enjoyed earlier in the week -- Rock City seemed like a fake "Disneyland-ish" attraction. We all agreed that it didn't compare to the trails and swimming holes of Little River Canyon.

Previous reviewers mentioned the dirt/gravel road leading up to the house -- but we didn't find it difficult to navigate. 2 in our party drove SUVs, but my parents even drove their Lexus sedan up the road without any problems. One day we encountered 3 wild turkeys crossing the road as we drove back to the house.

We look forward to visiting this area again in the future and wouldn't hesitate to stay in this beautiful home when we return!

Owner's Response: Thank you Jill for such a nice review! Gina and some of our friends have worked hard to make the house feel even more rustic, adding barnwood to the ceilings and new colors to many of the rooms. We have planted more native plants and trees around the property, and have enjoyed the flowers from the bulbs planted last year.
We look forward to having your family stay with us again. Greg

Forest Retreat with Stunning Mountain Vista, American Art and Chic Amenities.

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I spent a four day weekend in this breath-taking place. It was an idyllic retreat tucked on a Lookout Mountain side. We watched the sunrise over the Georgia Mountains - smoke-filled valleys between three successive ranges. The smoke didn't lift untill almost noon. Liitle river canyon was a short car ride away where we hiked during the day on the side of the spectaculary wooded gorge and witnessed a gorgeous sunset dappling the wooded cliffs. Day trips to Mentone and Lake Weiss were fun outings. Mostly we walked in the woods, read books on the breath-taking deck and enjoyed the art and artifacts decorating this lovely chalet. The cabin is beautiful and well built. One of the owner couple is an artist whose nature paintings fit the setting perfectly. Native Cherokee artifacts, natural wood interiors and a massive stone fireplace add to the authenticity. We grilled supper on the deck, built evening fires in the fireplace and even watched college footbal on the big screen TV. The TV was not used otherwise because the setting absolutely drew you into the natural surroundings. The owners bent over backwards to make us feel at home. They provided great advise regarding travel and local landmarks. Their property is pristine and lovingly maintained. Our absolute highest recomendations.! We plan to return with our children because the cabin is big enough and because the setting is so spectacular.

Relaxing and comfortable meets adventure and scenic view overload!

  • 5 of 5
The owners were incredibly accommodating and helpful. We had never been to the area before, and they made it easy for us to find fun things to do, adventures to have, places to shop and eat while staying at the clean, comfortable and well-appointed chalet over-looking beautiful elevated natural setting. We loved hiking through Little River Canyon, DeSoto Falls, Cherokee Rock Village, kayaking on Weiss Lake, lunch & shopping in Mentone, and just relaxing and grilling out at the house.

While we thought the photos were obviously compelling enough to choose this place to stay, in our opinion, they did not do the place justice. The views from the home, the inside amenities and the surrounding landscape were far prettier and more scenic than depicted. Always a nice surprise!

Based on the road getting to the house, which is almost an adventure in itself, a truck or SUV is advised. And if you and your family (including dogs) enjoy being outdoors in the woods and seeing some of the best sunrises ever, this is the place.

Thank you for allowing us to stay!
